Boer Quang Chinh Goat Farm, Ward 3, Bao Loc is currently raising 500 goats. Mr. Vu Quang Chinh - the farm owner is a 9X farmer who left the city to start a business in his hometown. He shared: “In 2017, I started my business with livestock farming. After careful research, I realized that Boer goats are a high-yielding breed, suitable for local conditions and favored by the market. Therefore, I saved money to buy 12 breeding goats, 1 male, 11 females and built a technically correct barn. After 5 years, the farm now has 500 goats and more importantly, we have built an alliance of young farmers raising goats together.”

According to Mr. Vu Quang Chinh, Boer goats originate from South Africa, are large, have a lot of meat, grow very quickly and reproduce quickly. He said that female goats are pregnant for 5 months, giving birth to 1-2 kids. After giving birth, the kid is raised by the mother for 2.5 months, then weaned, completely separated from the mother, and switched to a diet mainly of green grass. During the time of raising the kid, the mother goat was mated and only 4 months after being separated from the kid, the mother goat was ready to give birth to the second litter. "If well cared for, the mother goat can give birth to 2 litters/year, giving 3-4 kids. Therefore, the herd multiplication rate of Boer goats is very fast," Mr. Chinh informed.

Not only fertile, Boer goats also grow very quickly. With a diet mainly of green grass, young goats can grow to weigh 28 - 35 kg after 5 months, meeting the standards for sale. Currently, the price of meat goats is 150 - 170 thousand VND/kg, breeding goats are priced at 400 thousand VND/kg. With stable prices and a simple diet, Boer goats are livestock that bring economic efficiency to farmers. From a single goat farm, Mr. Chinh has built a network of 9 goat farms, mainly young farmers.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Duy - a young farmer, a partner of Quang Chinh farm, said that he bought breeding goats from the farm. At the same time, he was instructed on breeding techniques, barn construction techniques, and had his products purchased if needed. “Raising Boer goats also requires many secrets. For example, the barn must be built high, 2.5 - 3 m above the ground, and the barn dividers also have their own standards so that the goats do not destroy the barn. Goats must be fed jackfruit leaves regularly to protect the intestines and increase nutrient absorption. Mr. Chinh supports all of these techniques for members to ensure the quality of the goat herd, reduce the loss rate, and ensure that all members successfully raise goats”. Mr. Duy also said that there are many households participating in the association but have little capital, they can form an association in the direction that farmers receive breeding goats to take care of, and both sides share the profits. This is a way to help households with little capital expand their goat herds.

“Raising Boer goats has a very fast capital turnover, capital recovery as well as quick income for farmers”, Mr. Vu Quang Chinh assessed. When building links with farmers, the most important issue is the breed. Quang Chinh farm always provides breeding goats to other farmers, especially those without experience in breeding: “We always provide female goats that have given birth to one litter to partners. Reproductive goats are healthy, breed quickly, are safe for farmers in breeding, and have less risk than raising young goats”.

It is known that Mr. Vu Quang Chinh won the Second Prize of the Lam Dong Farmers' Creativity Contest 2025 with the model of a scientific goat farm combining education and business. This is the pride of young farmers, marking the trend of linking - increasing the strength of farmers in the modern period.
