Besides focusing on professional work and good teaching and learning, building a "happy school" is a goal that many schools aim for and determine to implement right from the beginning of the school year.
Go to school with your child
On August 25, more than 200 first graders of An Hao Primary School (Tran Bien Ward) returned to school. Previously, on August 23, the school held a meeting for first grade parents. One of the contents the school sent to parents was the hope that on the first day of school, parents would take the time to bring their children to school and participate in and experience activities with their children to strengthen the bond between parents, teachers and students.
An Hao Primary School has decorated the area for parents and students to “check-in”, recording beautiful and memorable moments of the first day of school. Students watched performances of Vovinam martial arts and modern dance; participated in games with prizes. After participating in outdoor activities, students were led by their homeroom teachers to visit the school campus and functional rooms. Next, they experienced activities in the classroom dedicated to Math and Science in English with foreign teachers; visited and experienced STEAM and Robotics.
An Hao Primary School Principal Pham Thi Nguyet said: In the 2025-2026 school year, the school will increase the teaching of Math and Science in English, in which 50% of the time students study with foreign teachers and 50% of the time with school teachers. This content has just been deployed with parents of grade 1 through the meeting at the beginning of the year and has received the agreement of parents, with more than 80% of parents registering their children to participate in this study program.
On August 28, students of the remaining grades of An Hao Primary School will return to school. Although there will be no grand welcoming activities like those for first graders, they will still participate in games to create a happy and excited atmosphere for the new school year.
Phuoc Tin A Primary School (Phuoc Long Ward) also organized a welcoming ceremony for more than 140 first graders on August 25. On the first day of school, students were guided by their homeroom teachers to familiarize themselves with school regulations; how to preserve and use books, sitting posture, holding a pen, etc.
Although it was the first day of school, the students had already gotten acquainted and visited the school before the 2024-2025 school year ended. Accordingly, in May 2025, Phuoc Tin A Primary School organized a tour for pre-1st grade students to visit and experience. During the program, 5th grade students and teachers went to the school gate to welcome pre-1st grade students. The students listened to the Board of Directors introduce the school, and were led by teachers to visit the school campus and the music rooms, library, computer science, etc. Because they had been to the school to learn about it in advance, the first day of the new school year was less confusing for the students.
For students of the remaining grades of Phuoc Tin A Primary School, they will return to school on August 28. On the first days of school, teachers will guide students to review old knowledge to prepare for the new school year's curriculum.
Caring for students in difficult circumstances
To share with students in difficult circumstances, schools have mobilized benefactors to give gifts and scholarships to students. This school year, Le Van Tam Primary School (Long Khanh Ward) has more than 700 students, most of whom are children of workers, many of whom are in difficult circumstances. Up to the time before the first day of school, the school has mobilized 40 gifts (clothes, books) and 6 scholarships for students in this group.
In Nghia Trung commune, there are 13 schools from kindergarten to junior high school (including one private independent kindergarten), including many students in difficult circumstances. To best care for students and share the burden with parents, Nghia Trung commune People's Committee has mobilized to give gifts of study and scholarships to the children. As of August 24, the commune has mobilized 20 bicycles, 50 scholarships (each worth 1 million VND), many gifts are backpacks and books.
In order to join hands to care for students in difficult circumstances, Dong Nai Newspaper, Radio and Television also organized the program "Helping you go to school in 2025". Accordingly, the unit awarded 60 scholarships (VND 1 million/scholarship), 800 notebooks to students in difficult circumstances in Thuan Loi and Binh Tan communes; donated 12 bicycles (worth VND 2 million/bike) and 25 scholarships (VND 1 million/scholarship) to students in difficult circumstances in Xuan Hoa commune. In the coming time, Dong Nai Newspaper, Radio and Television will continue to award more scholarships and gifts to students in difficult circumstances in localities in the province.
During the first week of school, schools will organize classes, disseminate rules, and provide skills guidance to students. Along with that, through the process of communication and exchange, teachers will classify students to have a teaching plan suitable to their receptive capacity, ready for the new school year to begin.
Representatives of the school boards said that they will continue to mobilize philanthropists to take care of students throughout the school year. This activity will also be accompanied by local authorities, unions, and social organizations with the school so that no student is left behind.
