The 'bricks' on the road to making Hai Phong a 'City of Music'

After the success of the Memory Concert in May, Hai Phong continues to "get in the groove" with Autumn Fest - a large-scale music festival.

The Memory Concert was elaborately and grandly staged, gathering many famous Vietnamese artists.

New Rhythm of the Port City

At the Square in front of the Political - Administrative Center in the new urban area of ​​Bac Song Cam, tens of thousands of spectators joined the Wave Memory Concert - a program in a series of events celebrating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hai Phong - Heroic City (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025) and the Red Flamboyant Festival - Hai Phong 2025, with the theme "Hai Phong - 70 years of faith and aspiration to rise up".

The program is directed by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater in collaboration with Shining Media Joint Stock Company, First Art Joint Stock Company and Song By Night. This is a clear demonstration of the "handshake" model between the cultural sector and businesses in organizing large-scale art events.

The event gathered many famous artists such as: Isaac, Dat Ozy, Kuun Duc Nam, Lam Bao Ngoc, Trung Quan, Xuan Duc, We Dare dance group and artists from Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater. In a modern stage space, the audience enjoyed 21 vibrant, youthful songs, from "Hai Phong ta", mashup "Tan Ca - Tang Ca", "Con gai Hai Phong", "Tat den", "Goi cho anh", "Anh se ve mot thoi", "Bong bong bang bang"... to the emotional chorus "Ben cang que huong toi".

According to Major General, musician Duc Trinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association, Hai Phong has all the conditions to become a "City of Music", because Hai Phong has a rich musical history, talented artists, young audiences, and modern performance infrastructure. What needs to be done is to maintain a year-round musical rhythm and link these activities with the tourism and service industries.

Following the success of the Song Memory Concert in May with about 10,000 attendees, Hai Phong continues to “set the pace” for the autumn music event series with Autumn Fest - a large-scale music festival with the support of the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and businesses. Held in a series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, Autumn Fest promises to be a strategic cultural product.

The event, taking place at 8pm on August 30 at Vinhomes Royal Island European Square, will bring together famous artists such as HIEUTHUHAI, Quan AP, Negav, Captain Boy, Gemini Hung Huynh, JSOL and artists from Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater. With an international standard sound and lighting system and a large outdoor performance space, Autumn Fest promises to bring a multi-layered experience: from enjoying art, exploring culture, connecting the community to stimulating tourism and services.

“Programs like the Wave Memory Concert or Autumn Fest are not only spiritual gifts for the people, but also create a ripple effect on the economy, culture and tourism. These are important bricks on the path to making Hai Phong a City of Music,” said Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

However, to realize the goal, Hai Phong needs to continue to build the brand of annual music events; strengthen public-private cooperation to organize large-scale music festivals; invest in creative infrastructure such as theaters, squares, and open performance spaces; at the same time, focus on training artistic human resources and promote international communication to attract artists and audiences, making Hai Phong a regional music destination.

From the Wave Memory Concert with its brilliant moments to the Autumn Fest that promises to explode with color, Hai Phong is gradually affirming its aspiration to become the “City of Music”. The city strives to become the new cultural and artistic center of Vietnam, where music is the heartbeat of the city and the pride of the people.
