On August 19, following the Prime Minister 's direction, 34 provinces and cities across the country will simultaneously start and inaugurate 250 projects with a total investment of 1.28 million billion VND.
According to the Ministry of Construction , of these, 89 projects have been completed and put into use, and 161 projects are eligible to start new construction. Notably, in the Southern region, many key infrastructure projects have been implemented, creating highlights in the development of transportation, urban areas and the regional economy.

Many large-scale infrastructure projects have been started.
Of the total 250 projects started and inaugurated nationwide, the Southern region recorded a series of key projects, stretching from the Southeast to the Mekong Delta.
- North-South Expressway, West (Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh section, Dong Nai): 124.13 km long, 6 lanes, 32.25 m cross-section, total investment of 19,965 billion VND.
- Dau Giay – Tan Phu Expressway: 60.24 km long, limited 4-lane scale, investment capital of VND 8,496 billion.
- Expanding Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh Expressway: 21.92 km long, of which the Ring Road 2 – Ring Road 3 section will be expanded from 4 to 8 lanes, the Ring Road 3 section – Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway will be expanded from 4 to 10 lanes, with a total capital of 16,386 billion VND.
- Phuoc Vinh Tay New Urban Area (Tay Ninh): Scale 1,089 hectares, total investment 90,757 billion VND.
Traffic jam on Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway due to overload.
- Construction of O Mon IV Thermal Power Plant (Can Tho) started: Total capital of 27,668 billion VND, when operating, it will add a large source of electricity to the national power system.
- Starting construction of Block B - O Mon gas pipeline: Including a 330.69 km long offshore pipeline, a 102.8 km onshore pipeline, and a system of shore landing and gas distribution stations, with a total investment of VND 28,788 billion.
- Block B Gas Field Development Project Phase 2: Investment capital of 32,925 billion VND.
- Ca Mau – Cai Nuoc Expressway Project: 42 km long, connecting Can Tho – Ca Mau Expressway to Cai Nuoc – Cai Doi Vam route, capital of 28,060 billion VND.
- Dat Mui - Hon Khoai port road project (Ca Mau): About 17 km long, designed as a 4-lane sea-crossing bridge, total capital of 17,000 billion VND.
- Hon Khoai general port project (Ca Mau): Design capacity of 20 million tons/year, including dredging of 5,000 m long shipping channel, turning basin and breakwater, investment capital of 15,000 billion VND.
Inauguration of a series of key traffic projects
Also on August 19, many major infrastructure projects in the South were completed and put into use, contributing to increasing inter-regional traffic capacity.
- North-South Expressway phase 2021 - 2025, Vung Ang - Bung section: 55.34 km long, 4 limited lanes, investment capital of 12,548 billion VND.
- North-South Expressway, Van Ninh - Cam Lo section: 65.5 km long, 4 limited lanes, investment capital of 9,919 billion VND.
- Rach Mieu 2 Bridge (Tien Giang - Ben Tre): 1.97 km long, of which the main cable-stayed bridge is 510 m long, with 4 lanes, investment capital of 6,810 billion VND.
On August 19, the intersection of Ring Road 3 with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway will open to traffic.
- Component project 1, Tan Van - Nhon Trach phase 1 (Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3): 8.22 km long, including 4 motor lanes and 2 mixed lanes, investment capital of 6,955 billion VND.
- Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 Phase 1 : Open traffic from the intersection of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway to Nhon Trach Bridge, length 47.11 km, total capital 22,411 billion VND.
The simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration of a series of key infrastructure projects is expected to create a breakthrough in inter-regional connectivity, promote economic, trade, and logistics development, and improve the lives of people in the southern region.
