Ward named after the old Bac Lieu province
Bac Lieu Ward (established on the basis of wards 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 of Bac Lieu city, former Bac Lieu province) has a natural area of over 29.7km2 and a population of over 93,460 people.
Ca Mau province has 64 communes and wards. Of which, Bac Lieu ward has the smallest area but the largest population in this province.
Bac Lieu Ward borders Vinh Trach and Hiep Thanh wards and the communes of Hoa Binh , Vinh Hau, Hung Hoi and Vinh Loi.
The name of the ward is taken from the old Bac Lieu province. The current headquarters of Bac Lieu ward includes the headquarters of Bac Lieu City Party Committee and Bac Lieu City People's Committee (old).

Bac Lieu Ward is about 70km from the current center of Ca Mau province and more than 110km from the center of Can Tho city.
"Bac Lieu Ward is oriented to continue developing the trade and service sectors, including tourism, industry - construction, agriculture, etc.," Mr. Le Viet Xo, Chairman of Bac Lieu Ward People's Committee, informed Dan Tri reporter.
Unique destinations
According to Dan Tri reporters, in Bac Lieu ward, there are some outstanding destinations such as: "Bac Lieu Prince" house; the memorial area of Southern amateur music and musician Cao Van Lau; Hung Vuong square; Cultural - artistic exhibition center and Cao Van Lau theater (also known as the house with 3 conical hats); Thai Duong clock (stone clock);...
Among them, there are 2 works that were recognized as Vietnamese records more than 10 years ago: "The largest conical hat-shaped house" (house with 3 conical hats) and "The largest stylized zither" (located on Hung Vuong square).

Currently, the house of 3 conical hats has one "conical hat" as a theater (Cao Van Lau theater is named after the late musician Cao Van Lau, author of the immortal song Da co hoai lang) and "2 conical hats" as a museum.
The stylized zither has a radius of 17m, is more than 18m high, and is designed with all the necessary parts such as strings, keys, etc., basically the same as a real zither.

In addition to the theater, Bac Lieu ward also has a memorial area for Southern amateur music and musician Cao Van Lau.
Here, in addition to the tomb of the late musician Cao Van Lau, there are also displayed musical instruments commonly used in amateur music and reformed theater such as flutes, song lan, and various types of instruments... carved from stone, creating an impressive space for the memorial area.
When coming to Bac Lieu ward, you cannot miss the house of "Bac Lieu Prince", built more than 100 years ago. The house used to be the residence of the extended family of "Bac Lieu Prince" Tran Trinh Huy, the prince with famous anecdotes such as burning money, buying planes to visit fields,...
Another rare work is the Thai Duong clock (also known as the stone clock) built by Mr. Luu Van Lang (also known as Bac Vat Lang, 1880-1969, the first civil engineer in the South trained in France) around 1913.
According to the (former) Bac Lieu Provincial Museum, this is the only remaining solar clock in Vietnam. The deviation of this clock compared to a normal clock is only about 5-7 minutes.

Talking to Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Le Viet Xo, Chairman of Bac Lieu Ward People's Committee, said that in the coming time, the ward will continue to maintain the growth of the old Bac Lieu City, further promoting the above orientations to contribute to the socio-economic development of Ca Mau province - the southernmost part of the country.
