(NADS) - On March 24, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition "60 years - A journey" by photographer Chau Kinh Xuan took place.
Photographer Chau Kinh Xuan is a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association. Since 1963, he began studying photography, darkroom techniques, photo grading, film editing, colorization... working at the famous Gia Le Photo Studio in Pleiku, Gia Lai . In 1985, when he returned to Saigon, he rented the Ai My Photo Studio in District 3 (corner of Cao Thang and Nguyen Dinh Chieu streets) to continue practicing photography. During this time, he also began participating in art photography and was later elected to the position of Vice Chairman and Finance Director of the District 5 Photography Club. In 2022, he was admitted to the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association.
Having been working in the profession for the past 60 years, he has selected 60 of his most favorite photos to exhibit on his 80th birthday. Photographer Chau Kinh Xuan shared: “ For me, photography is the art of light, the moment that helps us discover , create, and experience more deeply about ourselves and the life around us. I capture all the beauty that I love, emotions in everyday life, portraits, and landscapes across the country.”
At the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition, Mr. Doan Hoai Trung, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association, said: “ Photographer Chau Kinh Xuan was just admitted in 2022, his membership in the Association is less than 2 years old, but his career is 60 years old. At 80 years old, photographer Chau Kinh Xuan continues to travel and create artistic photos, especially since joining the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association, he has become more enthusiastic. I hope that District 5 Association will continue to develop more members and promote the photography movement even more. Photographer Chau Kinh Xuan's passion for his job is worth learning from for young people who love photography.”
Ms. Khuu Ngoc Bich Thu, Deputy Director of the District 5 Cultural House, where the photo exhibition took place, said: “As a sincere, simple and optimistic person, photographer Chau Kinh Xuan has chosen 60 of his most favorite works to exhibit. Each photo captures a certain moment, but each contains different stories and messages about life that he encountered, felt and took pictures of. The District 5 Cultural House is very honored to receive his good intentions, and to be trusted by him to choose as the venue for the photo exhibition.”
The exhibition lasts until March 31, 2024 at District 5 Cultural House, 105 Tran Hung Dao, Ward 6, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City.
