HAGL has a new captain
After a series of pillars such as Tran Minh Vuong, Chau Ngoc Quang, Dung Quang Nho, Tran Bao Toan left the mountain town one after another, HAGL is building the next generation.
In the friendly match against Libolo (former Angolan champion) at Ninh Binh Stadium, Coach Le Quang Trai launched many young players. Nguyen Minh Tam (2005), Tran Gia Bao (2008), Moi Se (2005), Nguyen Van Trieu (2003), Cao Hoang Minh (2003), Huynh Tran Bao Duy (2004)... were all given the opportunity to show themselves.
Leading the young HAGL players is captain Phan Du Hoc. After the 2nd and 3rd batch of HAGL players left one by one, Du Hoc is one of the most senior players still staying at Pleiku Stadium. Although Du Hoc is only 24 years old this year, he is one of the oldest players in the current young HAGL squad.

Student born in 2001, 1.72 m tall, is a student of the first course of HAGL Academy. He played for the U.19 Vietnam team in the international tournament in 2019.
Like many players who grew up in the mountain town, Du Hoc was loaned to many first-class teams such as Long An (2019), Ninh Binh (2023), People's Public Security (now Hanoi Police Club, 2022), then returned to HAGL to contribute from the 2023 - 2024 season.
Last season, Du Hoc only played 13 matches, but this season, he has become a key player with 21 matches in the V-League. The player from Binh Thuan has speed, technique, and a relatively stable ability to attack and defend. However, what Du Hoc lacks is real-life experience, along with the ability to control the rhythm of play instead of relying too much on instinct.
Potential of HAGL
HAGL drew 2-2 with Libolo in a friendly match in Ninh Binh. This was an unfortunate result, as coach Le Quang Trai's team led 2-0 thanks to goals from Le Huu Phuoc and Nguyen Thanh Nhan, but could not preserve the result.
The young generation of HAGL played with great effort, trying to launch systematic attacks, with bold and fast combinations on the flanks. However, the shortcoming of a young team is their fighting spirit.
That is what HAGL must cultivate in V-League. However, playing a lot does not mean gaining experience, but HAGL needs to have a clear player development strategy, recruiting experienced factors to lead the young generation.
HAGL needs to accumulate experience through each match.

The captaincy given to Du Hoc, even in a friendly match, is enough to show the problem of HAGL. At the moment, coach Le Quang Trai's team is lacking in veteran players. Someone like Du Hoc is considered experienced, if looking at the general level of HAGL. However, it should be remembered that Du Hoc has never made an impression on the youth team and has only been in the V-League for 2 or 3 seasons.
Du Hoc may not be qualified to be the captain of HAGL next season. But, if not the defender from Binh Thuan, then who? Who has the class, prestige and ability to lead the young stars, with very little playing experience and not much experience in the top playground.
Just like 10 years ago, when the first and second batches competed in the V-League, HAGL was always a potential team. However, how to use people without wasting that potential is a difficult problem for the Pleiku team.
