Artist Xuan Phuc was born and raised in a family with a tradition of painting. During his childhood, he was taught painting by his father, painter Tran Xuan Vi. The influence of family tradition combined with his passion from a young age, formed in him a unique direction in the field of painting, which is to paint portraits of Uncle Ho.
Talking about the opportunity to paint Uncle Ho, artist Xuan Phuc shared: “Since I was a child, my father was lucky enough to sit next to Uncle Ho when he visited Thanh Hoa . And my father painted a lot about Uncle Ho. He was also an exemplary model, living and working according to Uncle Ho. When I grew up, I felt Uncle Ho's immense merit, his whole life sacrificing for the country and the people. Stemming from my love for Uncle Ho, I painted Uncle Ho with responsibility, with love, with respect.”

To successfully paint pictures of Uncle Ho, artist Xuan Phuc spent a lot of time collecting and researching documents about him. He has a system of documents by topic such as: Uncle Ho with the police, Uncle Ho with the army, Uncle Ho with farmers... all are arranged scientifically . After carefully researching documents about Uncle Ho, he absorbed both his style and ideology to create the most beautiful paintings of President Ho Chi Minh.
“Drawing Uncle Ho’s eyes is very important. When facing the enemy, before a campaign, Uncle Ho’s eyes are very determined. However, in the paintings of Uncle Ho with children or Uncle Ho communicating with the people, I depict Uncle Ho with warm, kind eyes,” artist Xuan Phuc shared.
Nguyen Duc Du is a painter who matured during the anti-American resistance war, and also a person who painted Uncle Ho. He highly appreciated the paintings of his colleague: Xuan Phuc painted Uncle Ho in depth and painted him with the most sincere way. Wherever I go, I see Xuan Phuc's paintings and can recognize them immediately without confusing them with anyone else's. His paintings are very carefully polished and depict the spirit of Uncle Ho in every situation and every period.
When researching documents, he was serious and meticulous, but when painting, the artist let himself be immersed in emotions. He always painted with respect and infinite love for President Ho Chi Minh.
Painter Xuan Phuc has elevated the portraiture style to the ultra-realistic school. Every detail of Uncle Ho's eyes, forehead, beard, and hair in his paintings is realistic yet still shows closeness, warmth, and affection. Looking at his paintings, no one would think that he has never attended any art school.

I think that is an affirmation of Tran Xuan Phuc's talent in the field of drawing about Uncle Ho. His works are widely used in many places, especially in government and state agencies."
As for painter Nguyen Hong Tuan, he believes that each work about Uncle Ho by painter Xuan Phuc is very elaborate in terms of art, from the idea, layout to the way of expression, all are very neat and professional. Anyone who sees the painting can feel the author's feelings for Uncle Ho.
