British Foreign Secretary supports the construction of Vietnam's financial center

(Chinhphu.vn) - British Foreign Secretary David Lamy expressed his interest and affirmed his support for British businesses and experts to participate in projects to build and develop Vietnam's financial center, thereby contributing to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son meets with British Foreign Secretary David Lamy

On July 11, within the framework of attending the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son met with the British Foreign Secretary.

At the meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Lamy, both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in bilateral relations; agreed to continue to coordinate to promote the exchange of high-level delegations, contributing to enhancing political trust and creating momentum to bring the good cooperative relationship between the two countries to a new height.

Sharing with the British Foreign Secretary about the plan to develop regional and international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that this is a major policy of the Party and State of Vietnam, thereby promoting the transformation of the growth model structure and improving the competitiveness of the economy.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son asked the UK to share knowledge and experience in developing financial centers, support Vietnam in training and attracting human resources, and encourage UK organizations and businesses to participate in developing financial centers in Vietnam.

The British Foreign Secretary assessed that the bilateral relationship has developed impressively in many areas in recent times, especially in trade and investment; said that the two sides have many opportunities to promote trade, strengthen cooperation in new areas such as clean energy, renewable energy, etc.; expressed interest and affirmed support for British businesses and experts to participate in projects to build and develop Vietnam's Financial Center, thereby contributing to strengthening cooperation between the two countries./.
