Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on November 25 that Russia had launched more than 70 Shahed-style suicide attack drones into Ukraine last night, according to Reuters. Most were shot down by the Ukrainian side.
A kindergarten in Kyiv was damaged after the attack on November 25.
Mr Zelensky said the attack took place early on 25 November, and urged residents to be vigilant against winter bombardments. “As winter approaches, Russia will try to make these attacks more intense,” Mr Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian Air Force said most of the drones, made by Iran, reached the capital Kyiv in the biggest attack since the conflict broke out in February 2022. The Kyiv Independent reported that the attack lasted for six hours.
A Kyiv government spokesman said at least 40 drones were shot down. Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram that the attack injured five people, including an 11-year-old girl. Several buildings were damaged in various districts of the city. Debris from a downed drone fell on a kindergarten and started a fire.

Ukraine’s Energy Ministry said nearly 200 buildings in Kyiv, including 77 residential ones, lost power following the attack. Ukrainian officials have warned in recent weeks that Russia will carry out another heavy airstrike aimed at destroying the power grid, as it did last winter.
Russia has not immediately commented on the above information.
