PSG beat Bayern with 9 men. Early morning of July 6, PSG defeated Bayern 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Speaking after the match, Neuer was angry: "It was a situation that did not need to be tackled like that! That decision was really careless. Donnarumma took a risk and injured his opponent."

The German goalkeeper later said he had spoken to Donnarumma after the game: “Didn't he want to visit our player? It's a matter of respect. After all, Donnarumma did it. Fair play is always important. I would have reacted differently if Donnarumma had made a different decision.”

Musiala's ankle was deformed after a strong collision with Donnarumma at the end of the first half of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ quarter-final between Bayern and PSG. He was immediately taken to hospital with the help of the medical team.

After this incident, Donnarumma was also shocked and sat on the field with his face in his hands. His teammates had to come to comfort him so that the Italian goalkeeper could continue to complete the match.

On his personal page, Donnarumma also sent a message to Musiala: "I want to pray to wish you the best, Jamal Musiala".

Bayern CEO Max Eberlalso criticized Donnarumma, saying: "When a 100kg goalkeeper touches his [Musiala's] legs while sprinting, there is a high risk that something will happen. I don't think Gianluigi did it on purpose, but he was also not conscious of his actions."

Bayern lost 0-2 to PSG thanks to goals from Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue, thus saying goodbye to the tournament in the quarter-finals.
