According to the Bangkok Post , a female teacher in Uthai Thani province (Thailand) is preparing to sue an 11th grade male student for assault and insult for punching her in the face in front of 20 students in the class because she did not receive a perfect score on the mid-term math exam.

The incident occurred at a private school on August 5 and quickly went viral when the teacher shared the story with a famous teacher who runs the social media page Teacher Arty. The post on August 10 quickly caused a stir in the Thai teacher and parent community.

The Thaiger website reported that many press agencies contacted her but the teacher refused to be interviewed, saying she was not ready to speak up, but affirmed that she would pursue the case to the end.

Thai media reported that when the scores were announced, the teacher announced that the male student had scored 18/20. The student protested because he thought he had the correct answer and deserved full marks. The teacher explained that the student had been deducted points because he did not fully present the solution steps.

When the male student insisted that he only needed to get the correct answer to get a perfect score, the math teacher advised him to ask other teachers for their opinions. After meeting with several teachers, the male student returned and continued to request a change in his score, but the teacher maintained her decision.

Angry, the student kicked the teacher’s desk and left the classroom. About 10 minutes later, he returned and shouted, “You have to apologize to me.” When she asked, “Who needs to apologize?”, the student immediately attacked, punched, and kicked the teacher repeatedly.

Witnessing this scene, some classmates tried to stop him but to no avail. Only when a teacher appeared did the male student stop. However, he continued to insult him: “You are not qualified to teach. You are more suitable to be a student. You deserve this!”

The assault left the math teacher with a black eye, a swollen head, and severe rib injuries. She reported the incident to the Nong Chang police station. The boy’s parents also contacted her to apologize on behalf of their son.

After the incident, the school suspended the student, but he himself wrote a letter requesting to leave school. There is currently no new information about the legal process, and the student's family has also refused to respond to the press.
