On the afternoon of August 16, information from Cuc Phuong National Park (Ninh Binh) officials said that as of 3:00 p.m. the same day, the whereabouts of Mr. NQM (33 years old, living in Hai Phong), a tourist who went to visit and explore Cuc Phuong forest and went missing since the afternoon of August 14, had not been found.

Previously, on the afternoon of August 13, Mr. M. arrived at Cuc Phuong National Park and stayed overnight in Bong area (one of the resting places on the sightseeing and exploration route in Cuc Phuong forest). This is the farthest resting place, nearly 20 km from the administrative center of Cuc Phuong National Park, this area has no phone signal.

On the morning of August 14, Mr. M. walked by himself along the route to explore the thousand-year-old Chò chỉ tree (about 3 km from the Bong area). On the way to the Chò chỉ tree, Mr. M. entered the Son Cung cave area (about 2 km from the Bong area) and went missing from there.

On the afternoon of August 14, many tourists visiting Son Cung Cave discovered Mr. M's backpack, containing a cell phone and personal documents, so they reported it to the rangers of Cuc Phuong National Park.

Suspecting that Mr. M. had lost his way and gone missing, from the afternoon of August 14 until now, Cuc Phuong National Park mobilized all its forces to search, but as of 3:00 p.m. on August 16, his whereabouts were still not found.

The authorities of Cuc Phuong National Park determined that Mr. M. might have entered Son Cung cave to explore, but when he came out, because the V-shaped cave entrance was low and dark, while looking from inside the cave, it was easy to see the light from the sky gate area (not the exit), so he followed this direction. If Mr. M. had exited from the sky gate (the area halfway up the mountain), there would have been no way down to the ground, surrounded by dense forest.
