Muay Asia 2025 officially kicks off in Thai Nguyen

(PLVN) - On June 21, the 2025 Asian Muay Championship officially opened at the Thai Nguyen Provincial Sports and Gymnasium, marking the first time a continental Muay tournament was held in Vietnam. The tournament gathered many excellent regional boxers competing in 36 events.

The event gathered nearly 400 athletes, coaches, team leaders and referees from 25 countries and territories. The competitions included 28 combat weight categories and 8 technical performance categories. The Vietnamese delegation participated with 50 athletes, including 6 martial artists from Thai Nguyen .

Four outstanding Vietnamese athletes were awarded the Labor Medal.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Permanent Vice Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc - Director of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and many fans.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: "Thai Nguyen province is trusted to be chosen as the host of the 2025 Asian Muay Thai Championship, which is an opportunity to introduce to international friends a Thai Nguyen that is innovative, integrated and strongly developing in many fields."

The 2025 Asian Muay Thai Championship is a meaningful sporting event – ​​a gathering place for the region's top sporting talents, an opportunity for countries to exchange, learn, strengthen friendship and mutual understanding through the common language of sportsmanship.

Immediately after the ceremony, the first matches took place in a vibrant atmosphere, receiving cheers from a large number of fans. The event is not only a top sports playground but also contributes to spreading the spirit of training, raising awareness of healthy living in the community, especially among young people.
