On our journey to discover the beauty of the flood season in the West, we continued to Tra Su Melaleuca Forest (Tinh Bien, An Giang Province) - a flooded area known as the "green paradise" of the Long Xuyen Quadrangle. This season, the richness of fertile alluvium deposited by the tides has nurtured the rapidly growing beds of duckweed that stretch across the water surface.

There are two types of vehicles to explore the “wetland world ” of Tra Su: motorized sampans and rowboats.

During the flood season, cajuput trees also bloom more, as if to contribute to beautifying the landscape, adding a touch that makes visitors linger.

This is home to 22 species of reptiles, 11 species of mammals, 23 species of aquatic animals and 140 species of plants belonging to 52 families and 102 genera, including nearly 80 species of medicinal herbs.

Inside Tra Su cajuput forest during flood season, ferns are also lush green.

Choai tree - a delicious wild vegetable with many medicinal properties, known as a panacea in the West.

At this time, the management board has increased the number of staff who are locals, knowledgeable about each species of plants, birds and animals, to regularly take care of and beautify the landscape of the routes for visitors.

“During the flood season, Tra Su cajuput forest seems to be wearing a smooth, deep green coat. Every day, we clean the swimming lanes, creating a shelter for the storks to come and live,” said Mai Van Hoan, an employee.

With the opening of trails under the forest canopy, Tra Su cajuput forest welcomes hundreds of visitors every day, giving visitors the feeling of walking in a waterway.

Ms. Truong Thi Van, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said: “The most impressive thing when entering the forest is the peaceful atmosphere, the wild scenery, like going back to the time when the South had not been reclaimed, which I only saw in books. I am very satisfied with this trip.”

Here, visitors can also play with very friendly pigeons.

Tra Su cajuput forest is 845 hectares wide, spread over two main communes, Vinh Trung and Van Giao of Tinh Bien town and part of O Long Vy commune of Chau Phu district (An Giang province). This is the navel of the Long Xuyen Quadrangle, including An Giang, Kien Giang and part of Can Tho. The four vertices of this quadrangle correspond to four cities, including: Long Xuyen, Chau Doc (An Giang), Rach Gia, Ha Tien (Kien Giang).
