On May 9, images and stories of a female doctor injured by a falling glass panel from a coffee shop were spread on social media.
According to information, on the evening of April 20, Ms. HML (29 years old) was drinking coffee with friends at a coffee shop on Thai Ha Street, Trung Liet Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi .
At that time, it was raining heavily, a large glass panel from the second floor collapsed on her. The incident caused Ms. L. to be hospitalized with serious injuries. Ms. HML's family had to be on duty to treat her. Because of that, the female doctor had to stop her career of saving people.
On the afternoon of May 9, Mr. Hoang Van Thanh (father of the victim HML) said that his daughter is still weak and needs a long recovery process.
Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online, a media representative of The Coffee House confirmed the incident occurred at location No. 1 Thai Ha.
At that time, the incident injured 4 employees and 3 customers. Of these, Ms. HML was the most seriously injured. After a day, 6 people were discharged from the hospital, only Ms. HML continued to receive treatment.
"We have also informed the building management, reported to the police and examined the scene," he said.
Explaining why it took nearly 3 weeks to respond and provide information about the incident, the representative of this coffee chain affirmed that "there is no evasion".
"The family wants to focus on treatment because in the past week, L. had to undergo two very important surgeries, so they have not been able to calculate and give feedback on compensation costs. Therefore, we have not been able to inform about the incident earlier," he explained, adding that the company had previously "offered a large cost proposal" but the family had not yet agreed.
Currently, The Coffee House brand representative confirmed that they are regularly on duty at the hospital and visit the families of the customers who have had accidents.
Meanwhile, the commander of Trung Liet Ward Police said that the unit is coordinating with Dong Da District Police's professional teams to clarify the incident.
