According to statistics from Box Office Vietnam, as of the evening of August 28, Red Rain has surpassed the 200 billion VND mark. This figure helps the film surpass Tunnels: Sun in the Dark (173 billion VND) to become the highest-grossing war film ever in Vietnam.

On August 28 alone, the film earned 21.7 billion VND with more than 264,000 tickets sold and 4,793 screenings nationwide.

This is nearly 3 times the number of screenings compared to the second highest-grossing film of the day, Getting Rich with Ghosts (1,841 screenings, earning 2.3 billion VND). The speed at which Red Rain "earns" money is considered impressive by observers, especially since the film was not released during Tet - a time that usually brings great advantages to domestic works.

Previously, the film also achieved impressive results when it quickly surpassed the 100 billion VND mark after only 3 days of release (from August 21), equivalent to the speed of "blockbusters" such as Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc by Ly Hai or Bo tu bao thu by Tran Thanh.

Thus, up to now, Red Rain is the 10th Vietnamese film of the year to surpass the hundred billion mark, contributing to the explosion of the domestic film market.

Previously, works such as The Four Guardians (322 billion VND), Detective Kien: Headless Case (249 billion VND), Ancestral House (243 billion VND), Flip Side 8: Sunny Bracelet (232 billion VND), Billionaire Kiss (212 billion VND), Carrying Mother Away (169 billion VND) and Ghost Invasion (150 billion VND) created a box office fever.

With nearly one million tickets sold and an average occupancy rate of over 44%, Red Rain proved its outstanding appeal, overwhelming even foreign competitors such as Demon Slayer: Infinity City (revenue on August 28 was only 1.1 billion VND, total 127.3 billion VND).

The heat of Red Rain not only stopped at the box office but also spread strongly on social networks and search platforms.

According to Google Trends, the film continuously became the hottest keyword, receiving thousands of positive reviews and comments from the audience.

On Google User Rating, many people gave it 5 stars, praising the touching wartime story that evokes national pride. The film's trailer, intended for audiences aged 13 and over, has attracted millions of views, with images of fierce battlefields and deeply humane moments.

The film Red Rain is adapted from the novel of the same name by Colonel and writer Chu Lai - a work that won the Ministry of National Defense 's A Prize at the campaign to write scripts on the theme of revolutionary war in 2015.

Colonel and writer Chu Lai is also the screenwriter of the film Red Rain. The film recreates the 81-day and night battle to defend Quang Tri Citadel in 1972 - a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism.

Previously, sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Colonel Kieu Thanh Thuy - Production Director of the film Red Rain - said that the success of Red Rain is not only reflected in the millions of viewers watching the film, but also in its wide spread and enthusiastic reception by the people.

"That is proof of the lasting vitality of revolutionary cinema, contributing to fostering national pride and the desire to preserve peace today," Colonel Kieu Thanh Thuy emphasized.

According to Ms. Thuy, the fastest and most widespread way for Red Rain to spread is through the nationwide cinema system, helping millions of viewers understand more deeply the value of peace today - the achievement exchanged with the blood and bones of generations of fathers and brothers.

Mr. Dang Tran Cuong - Director of the Department of Cinema - emphasized that the success of Red Rain is a "golden opportunity" that needs to be taken advantage of to build a long-term strategy, helping war and revolutionary films develop sustainably.

"The 'key' lies in investing in the script, good film quality, having a professional distribution unit, and focusing on promotion," said Mr. Cuong.

Red Rain conquers audiences not only with its historical significance but also with its touching, humane story, where the beauty of people during wartime is vividly portrayed.

Film expert and critic Nguyen Phong Viet shared with Dan Tri reporter: “I find this a big attraction. The film builds a very ordinary image of a soldier, not lacking in romance but still realistic.”

Writer Nguyen Van Tho, a moviegoer, commented: "In 2 hours, the audience was breathless because many war scenes were meticulously recreated. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed such an excellent Vietnamese war movie.

As a veteran who fought in two Northern campaigns and four Southern campaigns, I could not contain my emotions when the war was recreated realistically, without avoiding pain and loss.

Evaluating the investment and quality of the setting and images of Red Rain , director Bui Thac Chuyen ( Tunnel ) commented: “The film recreates very emotional footage. Compared to my work, in terms of scale and difficulty, Red Rain is much more difficult. The film crew has succeeded in recreating a tragic period of the nation's history.”
