"Red Rain" has earned more than 305 billion VND, as of the morning of August 31, according to statistics from the Box Office Vietnam platform. This is an unprecedented record of Vietnamese cinema for a war-themed film, competing directly with leading names such as Tran Thanh and Ly Hai.

On August 30, a representative of Box Office Vietnam commented: "Red Rain" is the first film not directed by Tran Thanh to earn more than 40 billion VND/day. Previously, only "Mai" and "Bo Tu Bao Thu" generated this revenue.

"The Four Guardians" is also the 2025 Tet film, earning 325 billion VND, the highest this year up to now.

"Red Rain" is currently scheduled to be shown nearly 5,000 times per day. With the current heat and the ongoing National Day holiday (August 30 - September 2), experts believe that the film will surpass the aforementioned Tet film to take the "top 1" position at the Vietnamese box office this year, and even take the "top 5" position in Vietnamese film revenue in general.

The film was ordered by the State, directed by Meritorious Artist, Lieutenant Colonel Dang Thai Huyen, produced by the People's Army Cinema, in coordination with Galaxy Studio in the distribution and promotion stage.

The film's script is based on the novel "Red Rain" by Colonel and writer Chu Lai, depicting the harshness of the 81 days and nights the liberation army fought to defend Quang Tri citadel - one of the battles that had a direct impact on the peace negotiations in Paris at that time.

The film studio was built along 500m of Thach Han River, covering an area of 500 hectares. The film crew had to conduct mine clearance, spending 15 months designing and building the studio before filming.

Filming lasted exactly 81 days and nights, just like a real war, through two seasons of extreme heat and cold. The actors playing the roles of soldiers had a month of training in military knowledge, soldier skills, and physical challenges in Cu Chi, then spent time in the trenches in the rain and sun, soaking themselves to recreate the scene of crossing the river for filming.

Director Dang Thai Huyen affirmed that "Red Rain" on screen only recreates a part of reality and is a slice of the war atmosphere at that time.

"If the audience feels that the value of peace today is the exchange of many bloodsheds of previous generations, to me, it is a very precious thing that 'Red Rain' has achieved," said the director.

The soundtrack of the movie "What's more beautiful" composed and performed by singer Nguyen Hung (playing Hai) has become one of the most popular background music songs on social networks recently.

Watching the film, many veterans of the ancient citadel battle praised the film. Veteran Nguyen Van Hoi of the K3 Tam Dao battalion was moved: “The ancient citadel is only 500m wide on each side, but our battalion alone had more than 1,000 people left behind. Watching the film, we could not hold back our tears because we thought of our comrades.”

Director Bui Thac Chuyen of the film "Tunnels" commented that compared to international war films, domestic filmmakers still face many difficulties and have to make a lot of effort. However, he acknowledged that the film is difficult to make, especially in close combat scenes, impressive scale...

This director hopes that recent successes in the war film genre will contribute to the development of this film genre, continuing the legacy of his predecessors, becoming an important part of cultural life in Vietnam./.
