In 2025, in less than 10 days at the end of June, the Vietnamese public witnessed at least 5 beauty contests. And on the evening of June 30, Mrs. Peace Vietnam 2025 had a successor.

One month, 6 beauties crowned

On the evening of June 14, the final round of the Miss and Mister World Supermodel contest took place in Binh Dinh. The second runner-up was Nguyen Ngoc Phi Khanh. She also won the Most Popular Miss award.

On the evening of June 21 in Khanh Hoa , Nguyen Hoang Phuong Linh surpassed 42 contestants to be crowned Miss Cosmo Vietnam 2025 - Miss Universe Vietnam.

On the evening of June 27, in Hue, the title of Miss Vietnam 2024 was awarded to Ha Truc Linh, and the two runners-up were Chau Anh and Van Nhi.

On the evening of June 28, at the same time but in two different cities, two crowns continued to be awarded: Ngo Thi Tram Anh became Miss Earth Vietnam 2025 in Hai Phong; Nguyen Hoai Phuong Anh was crowned Miss Sea Vietnam Global 2025 in Ha Long. On June 30, the Hanoi Opera House stage lit up for the 2025 Mrs. Peace Vietnam pageant. Not to mention dozens of regional, industry, and community-level beauty contests that quietly take place throughout the year.

The moment of Ngo Thi Tram Anh's coronation:

Too much becomes bland

Never before in the history of Vietnamese beauty pageants has the title of Miss appeared with such dizzying frequency. Each person has a title, each contest has its own criteria, but the common point is... the public cannot remember the name.

If you simply read the news: "Ngo Thi Tram Anh crowned Miss Earth Vietnam 2025", "Nguyen Hoai Phuong Anh is the new Miss Sea Vietnam Global", "Nguyen Hoang Phuong Linh won the crown of Miss Cosmo Vietnam 2025"... then even those who closely follow the entertainment industry may not be able to distinguish who is who.

People used to expect beauty queens to represent beauty - intelligence - kindness. But in many cases, the image of beauty queens after being crowned is not associated with long-term charity, educational or social activities, but often appears more frequently in advertising events, red carpets, talk shows or associated with cosmetic brands, spas, or livestream sales. Miss Grand International Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien is a typical example of livestream sales and getting into trouble with the law.

A painful question that needs to be asked: Why do we organize so many beauty contests? To choose a national beauty representative? To promote the image of modern women? Or just to give another title, a ticket to the world of celebrities?

Need a brake?

It is undeniable that beauty pageants have created inspirational icons, from inner beauty to community engagement. For example, Miss Universe Vietnam H'Hen Niê is still recognized by the public as a simple queen who is willing to participate in community projects. But when the title is "mass produced", its value is also diluted.

Having too many beauty queens not only gives the public a "headache" because they can't remember who is who, but also makes it difficult for the crowned ones to stand out and be easily replaced.

Without a strategy to screen, standardize and re-plan beauty contests, both in terms of quantity and quality, the title "beauty queen" will likely become a form of "consumer title" instead of representing the criteria and standards set by the contest when finding worthy people.

There are plenty of beauties, but there is a lack of beauty queens with a mindset of serving the community, sticking with social activities for a long time, and creating a positive influence on young people.

Miss is not an easy title. And if you keep seeing Misses and can't feel the inner beauty, kindness and humane actions behind the crown, then perhaps it's time for the beauty industry to take a serious look so that beauty is not just for looking at and the audience doesn't have to exclaim "I'm sick of Misses"!
