The first two Xiaomi air conditioners in Vietnam.

Earlier this year, a representative of Xiaomi Vietnam revealed plans to sell more home appliances. Air conditioners were among the first products to be sold. Recently, the company has also opened a specialized store that only sells Xiaomi products. At the first location at Crescent Mall (HCMC), the company displayed its first two air conditioners, with listed prices.

However, speaking with Tri Thuc - Znews, the company representative said the item was only announced early and was not available for immediate delivery.

The product is sold under the Mijia brand. This is the name of the company's smart home application in the domestic Chinese market. Its international version is Mi Home. Recently, the company also registered the Mijia trademark in Vietnam. Previously, many products in the Chinese company's smart home ecosystem were renamed Xiaomi for business purposes.

Currently, this company sells many small household appliances. However, this product group is not as widely distributed as mobile products. They started selling TVs in Vietnam from 2023. According to sources of Tri Thuc - Znews , this company will expand to large products. Besides air conditioners, there are refrigerators and washing machines.

The advertised features of the air conditioner include AI, energy saving and comfortable air flow. The product comes in two versions, 1 HP and 1.5 HP. The prices are VND 11.7 million and VND 13.7 million respectively.

Xiaomi's listed price is higher than the average price of air conditioners from many Chinese and Thai brands. The listed price from this company is on par with products from Samsung, LG or Japanese companies.

Xiaomi has had considerable success since expanding into new areas. In China, they recently surpassed Gree in monthly sales. The company’s biggest advantage lies in its Mi Home app, which is one of the most widespread smart home ecosystems in China today.

Meanwhile, in Vietnam, app connectivity or smarthome interoperability are not the most important criteria when consumers choose to buy household products. With products that have a long life cycle, domestic customers still have the habit of buying from long-standing, reputable brands.
