Agritourism is not only a trend, but also an untapped "gold mine", bringing golden opportunities for both farmers and tourists.
When the farm becomes a destination
We visited the vineyard of old farmer Nguyen Huu Thanh in Bong Lai village, Hiep Thanh commune. Having only emerged in recent years, the vineyard with its bunches of plump, ripe fruit, painstakingly researched and tested by Mr. Thanh, has become an ideal destination for tourists from within and outside the province. Everyone was delighted to see, discuss, learn about how to grow and care for grapes, and personally cut their favorite bunches, bring them home as gifts or enjoy them right in the garden. "This is a very interesting place to visit, I brought my children here to both visit and learn about how to grow grapes and buy fresh produce in the garden. The feeling of cutting grapes yourself is very enjoyable, very different from buying at the market," said Ms. Minh Thuy, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City.
Not far from Mr. Thanh’s vineyard, Bong Lai Farm is an agricultural tourist destination located among vast fields of elephant grass, hidden in the famous dairy farming area of Lam Dong. Although not located near the center, this place still attracts a large number of tourists to check-in and enjoy the fresh, peaceful air of the countryside.
Besides, many other agricultural tourism models in Lam Vien plateau are also taking advantage of agriculture to develop tourism, such as Puppy Farm, Tam Trinh Coffee Experiences or Avocado Farm,... Each place has its own style, but all bring unique experiences, imbued with agriculture.
Double benefit
Lam Vien Plateau has an outstanding advantage in terms of landscape, agricultural products and cultural values. The rural areas all possess beautiful nature, ideal climate and traditional cultural features of ethnic communities. For example, Xuan Truong ward - Da Lat is famous for Arabica coffee, Moka and wind-dried persimmons. The people here are Kinh, Hoa, K'Ho... living together in harmony, not only focusing on improving product quality but also actively organizing tourism activities in the garden, both promoting specialties and introducing the culture and beauty of the countryside.
Agricultural tourism is not just a sightseeing activity, but also brings dual benefits, helping to increase income for local people, promote specialties and improve the lives of rural people.
Mr. Tran Dang Khoi, a farmer in Thai Phien flower village, shared: "Previously, we only focused on flower production. But since tourists came to visit the garden and take pictures, I see that my village is more beautiful, and the products of my flower village are promoted much better. When visitors see beautiful flowers and clean vegetables, they buy them to support us. We also have more income, more joy in production, and love farming life more."
Currently, many communes and wards on Lam Vien plateau are promoting this type of tourism, considering it an important solution for sustainable new rural development and diversifying tourism products.
For this type of tourism to develop to its full potential, there needs to be synchronous investment from all levels of government, businesses and the community. Upgrading infrastructure such as transportation, electricity, water, landscape and environmental improvement to serve tourists is a prerequisite. With synchronous coordination and methodical investment strategies, this "gold mine" will certainly be awakened, bringing dual benefits to the people and unforgettable experiences to tourists.
