The addition of the new Copilot key to the Windows keyboard is a notable change after nearly 30 years of no innovation, and the move shows that Microsoft is focusing on bringing artificial intelligence to its products.

This button allows users to quickly access and interact with an AI chatbot developed by Microsoft. From there, users can ask questions or make requests such as text editing assistance.
“Integrating the Copilot key will make everyday user interactions more seamless,” said Microsoft executive vice president and chief marketing officer Yusuf Mehdi.
The new Copilot key will feature the Copilot AI chatbot logo, located in the lower right area of the keyboard, near the space bar and Alt key.
"This will help simplify users' computing experiences. At the same time, this new change is also expected to make 2024 the year of AI computing.
Microsoft isn’t saying which companies will add the Copilot key to Windows keyboards, but will announce it at CES next week. According to Mehdi, we’ll start seeing the Copilot key on new Windows 11 PCs from ecosystem partners starting in late January and through the spring, including Surface devices.
