The L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Scholarship is part of the International Awards honoring female scientists worldwide.

This is a joint program between L'Oreal and UNESCO to encourage and promote the development of women in scientific research.

Each year, the L'Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Awards honor five outstanding female scientists nominated by the world's leading scientists to receive a prize worth 100,000 euros each.

To promote the scientific careers of scientists around the world, since 2000, this Award program has been expanded with the World Talent Young Scientist Award, honoring 15 young female scientists annually from 5 continents, and the Scientific Research Scholarship program awarded in countries where L'Oreal is present.

The L'Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Scholarship Program has been implemented in Vietnam since 2009 to recognize and honor young female scientists in Vietnam through two research groups: Life Science & Materials Science. Every year, L'Oreal opens scholarship applications to honor 3 female scientists with modern, groundbreaking research projects that contribute to the development of scientific knowledge and benefit the community. Each scholarship is worth 150 million VND.

To participate in the L'Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science scholarship program in Vietnam, female scientists must have Vietnamese nationality, be under 45 years old, have a PhD degree and have a history of scientific research.

The scientific research project for the scholarship can be newly started or in progress, excluding research related to cosmetics. The application must be completed and submitted to the program before 6:00 p.m. on September 30, 2025.

The independent scientific council L'Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science in Vietnam will conduct a vote for outstanding candidates each year and announce the results in November every year.

National science scholarship recipients will continue to be nominated for the World Talent Young Scientist Award in the year following the year of the scholarship.

Associate Professor-PhD Nguyen Van Trang, Deputy Director of the Center for Biomedical Research, National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, a scientist receiving the L'Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science scholarship in Vietnam, shared: “I am passionate about the mission of this program, which is to help female scientists no longer be 'invisible'. This invisibility sometimes does not come from the outside but from one's own shyness and apprehension. I used to feel that way and this Award has helped me feel more confident because my work is honored and respected, and I myself have connected with a network of female scientists who are always ready to share and support each other.”./.

The "L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Vietnam" scholarship program was launched in 1989 to honor the contributions of women in science - those who have overcome all barriers to pursue their passion for scientific research and contribute to the development of human civilization, the sustainability of the planet and human health.

Every year, L'Oreal opens scholarship applications to honor three female scientists with modern, groundbreaking research projects that contribute to the development of scientific knowledge and benefit the community. Each scholarship is worth 150 million VND./.
