Liquid Glass is not just a new interface layer, but also a piece of the puzzle to prepare for the redefinition of iPhone on the occasion of its 20th anniversary.

At WWDC25, Apple first introduced Liquid Glass as a new design language for iOS 26. Many are skeptical, believing that this is just a glossy coat of paint rather than a real change.
But iOS history shows that interface overhauls often pave the way for hardware breakthroughs. iOS developer Craig Hockenberry notes that Liquid Glass brings new rules, similar to the safe area before the iPhone X.
According to him, avoiding the UI touching the edge is a move to prepare for a true edge-to-edge screen. This coincides with rumors that Apple is developing a four-sided curved “Glasswing” iPhone for 2027. Liquid Glass then helps the software blend seamlessly with the physical glass and frame.
Many experts predict this will be a step to redefine the iPhone on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. Dear readers, please watch more videos : Top 10 'Scary' Technology Devices of the Future.
