(CLO) On February 1 (the 4th day of the Lunar New Year), at the Keo Pagoda National Special Relic, the People's Committee of Duy Nhat Commune (Vu Thu District, Thai Binh Province) held the opening ceremony of the Keo Pagoda Spring Festival 2025.

Keo Pagoda Spring Festival 2025 takes place from February 1 - 5 (ie from January 4 - 8).

This is the second year the festival is held for 5 days instead of 1 day on January 4th like previous years. In particular, the activities on the opening day (January 4th) take place in accordance with local traditional customs and State regulations.

The ceremonial activities include: Opening ceremony; puppetry to pay homage to the Saint; activities of the sacrificial groups at Gia Roi court. The festival activities are expanded with many folk games such as: Fire pulling and cooking rice competition, unicorn dance, duck catching in the lake, singing on a boat, opening the first writing of spring, chess, blindfolded drumming, climbing the corn bridge...

According to Venerable Thich Thanh Quang, Abbot of Keo Pagoda, Keo Pagoda Festival is not only an occasion to show respect to our ancestors but also an opportunity for us to review the thousand-year-old cultural traditions of the nation. Within the framework of the festival, many unique activities, sacred rituals, and solemn ceremonies will take place, all to depict the beauty of traditional culture and strengthen community solidarity.

On the first day of the Keo Pagoda Spring Festival, the special national relic Keo Pagoda attracted a large number of visitors to offer incense, visit the spring and attend the festival. The organizing committee has prepared plans to ensure that activities throughout the festival take place solemnly and in accordance with traditional customs.

Keo Pagoda (literally Than Quang Tu) consists of two architectural complexes: the pagoda is a place to worship Buddha and the temple is a place to worship Saint Duong Khong Lo. In 1962, the pagoda was ranked as a National Monument; in 2012, it was a Special National Monument.

In 2017, Keo Pagoda Festival was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. In 2021, Keo Pagoda's altar was recognized as a National Treasure.

After about 400 years of existence, through many renovations and embellishments, Keo Pagoda still retains its unique architectural identity from the Le Trung Hung period (17th century). Currently, Keo Pagoda has 17 structures with 128 rooms, the main architectural works.
