Tong Goi Boat Rowing Festival preserves and transmits traditional cultural identity

Tong Goi, consisting of four villages: Thuong Hoi, Thuy Hoi, Vinh Ky and Phan Long (Tan Hoi commune, Dan Phuong district), has long been famous for its Cheo Tau singing festival. The most special feature of the festival is the Cheo Tau singing performance with the response melodies between two ships - wooden dragon boats, not launched but symbolically rowed on land.

This year, the Traditional Boating Festival of Tong Goi is held in conjunction with the 608th anniversary of the death of the Thanh Hoang of Van Di Thanh Village, with the purpose of remembering the merits of the ancestors who founded the world and contributed to the homeland and country; at the same time contributing to arousing traditions, pride in the homeland and expressing the gratitude of local people to the Thanh Hoang of the Village.

During the 2 days from February 23 to 24 (ie from January 14 to 15 of the lunar calendar), the festival will take place with 2 parts: the Ceremony includes traditional rituals such as: Procession; incense offering ceremony; communal worship ceremony and the Festival takes place vibrantly with sports competitions, folk games and folk song and dance exchange programs.

According to Mr. Do Van Muoi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Hoi commune, up to now, the preparations for the 2024 Tong Goi Boat Festival have been completed, with optimal plans to ensure safety for people and visitors from all directions: "The preparations have basically been completed. We have also established a steering committee, an organizing committee, subcommittees and especially the 4 worshiping relics have also organized activities related to sacrifices and ceremonies. With our assessment, there will certainly be tens of thousands of visitors to the locality. To ensure the safety of visitors as well as visitors from all directions attending the festival, we have established a security and order subcommittee and have also requested the District People's Committee to direct the district police to support the commune in traffic diversion as well as ensuring security in the festival area, we have developed a thorough implementation plan".
