At the scene, comrade Nguyen Van Duoc also assigned the Ho Chi Minh City Police to urgently investigate and clarify the cause of the fire, especially the factors that caused the fire to spread quickly and cause great damage to people and property. At the same time, verify the responsibilities of related organizations and individuals. In case of detecting violations of fire prevention and fighting regulations, they will be strictly handled in accordance with the law.
To prevent similar incidents, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directed the People's Committees of wards, communes, and special zones to review all residential areas, especially housing areas deep in alleys, collective houses, rental houses, old apartments, and buildings with high fire risks. Along with that, strengthen propaganda and dissemination of knowledge about fire prevention and fighting (PCCC) to people; instruct on escape skills; mobilize on-site equipment for fire prevention and fighting such as fire extinguishers, flashlights, smoke alarms, door-breaking hammers, etc. Continue to build inter-family firefighting teams and mobile firefighting teams to promptly respond to incidents. Regularly train people in areas with high risk of fire and explosion on knowledge and skills of fire prevention and fighting.

Previously, at around 10 p.m. on July 6, residents discovered a fire at an apartment on the ground floor of Doc Lap residential area (80/7 Do Doc Long Street, Phu Tho Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), with thick black smoke causing suffocation. Residents mobilized fire extinguishers and water hoses to help put out the fire. Authorities dispatched more than 10 specialized fire trucks and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire.
Firefighters rushed to the scene to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes. Some people were injured by smoke inhalation and jumped from high places and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Once the fire was under control, rescue teams reached the burnt house and other apartments and discovered 8 dead people, including 2 children; most of the victims died from smoke inhalation.
