On the afternoon of June 5, the Vietnam Rice Industry Association (Vietrisa) coordinated with Trung An High-Tech Agriculture Joint Stock Company (Trung An Company), Thot Not District, Can Tho City to organize a ceremony to export the first shipment of 500 tons of rice with the brand name "Green Vietnamese Rice with Low Emissions" to Japan, reported VNA.

This is the first batch of rice under the Project "1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice" to be exported abroad under the brand name "Green Vietnamese low-emission rice".

Mr. Pham Thai Binh , Chairman of the Board of Directors of Trung An Company, said that the unit price of Japonica rice exported to Japan has been certified according to this standard.

A representative of Trung An Company said that in 2025, it is expected to export about 400,000 tons of Japonica and ST25 rice certified as "Low-emission Vietnamese Green Rice", mainly to the Japanese market.

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam, today's rice export batch is the result of coordination between farmers, cooperatives, businesses and local agricultural sectors in the process of implementing the 1 million hectare rice project.

He said that although there are many challenges ahead, this is a positive signal, demonstrating a shift in farmers' production thinking towards sustainability.

After successful pilot models in 2024, the 1 million hectare rice project officially entered the expansion phase from 2025. Along with the development of high-quality, low-emission rice fields is the birth of the "Low-emission Green Vietnamese Rice" brand, aiming to build a certification label and national brand for low-carbon rice.

To promptly serve the Project, Vietrisa issued the Regulations on the use of the “Green Vietnamese Rice with Low Emissions” trademark on April 16. After that, Vietrisa coordinated with the TRVC Project to grant certificates of rights to use this trademark to 7 enterprises, including Trung An Company, with a total output of 19,200 tons of rice.

Trung An Company is the first unit to export a batch of rice with the brand name "Low emission green Vietnamese rice" to Japan, in cooperation with Murase Group.

This label is granted to rice products cultivated according to the technical process of the 1 million hectare Project, with confirmation from local authorities or specialized international organizations, ensuring clear origin of production, rice varieties and seasons.
