Lai Chau: Landslide causes local congestion on National Highway 4D

According to the announcement of the Traffic Police Department (Lai Chau Police), due to heavy rain on National Highway 4D in Lai Chau province, a landslide occurred on the positive slope, causing local traffic jams.

Specifically, the landslide location is at Km76+650m National Highway 4D, Son Binh commune, Tam Duong district ( Lai Chau ).

For the convenience of people's travel, Lai Chau Traffic Police Department recommends that people move in the direction of National Highway 32 towards Than Uyen district to National Highway 279 to the expressway towards Hanoi and vice versa.

Immediately after the landslide occurred, the Lai Chau Department of Construction directed the on-duty unit to mobilize machinery and vehicles to urgently fix the landslide. It is expected that by around 9:30 a.m. on June 22, the road will be temporarily cleared so that vehicles such as cars and motorbikes can travel from Lai Chau to Sa Pa and vice versa.

Previously, the Department of Construction of Lai Chau province announced the organization of temporary traffic diversion. Accordingly, due to the impact of heavy rain at Km76+690 on National Highway 4D, through Chu Va 12 village (Son Binh commune, Tam Duong district), there was a serious landslide on both the positive and negative slopes. The scene is at risk of a road break, seriously threatening traffic safety.

From 6:00 p.m. on June 21, all trucks and passenger cars are prohibited from passing through the landslide site at Km76+690 on National Highway 4D. Vehicles traveling from Lai Chau city to Lao Cai will turn at Km64+500 on National Highway 4D (Inter-sectoral intersection), follow National Highway 32 to Km351+500 (Doi 9 intersection, Phuc Than commune, Than Uyen district), then turn left towards Van Ban (Lao Cai). The reverse route applies similarly.

Lai Chau Bridge and Road Joint Stock Company 3 is assigned to coordinate with local authorities and related units to organize forces to be on duty, guide and regulate traffic, and install traffic signs.

Lai Chau Provincial Department of Construction recommends that people and vehicles proactively update weather conditions and comply with traffic flow instructions to ensure safety while traveling.
