Exciting Vietnamese movies holiday
In 2025, the film market continues to promise to be exciting with the participation of prominent names: The historical-war film "Red Rain", the comedy-horror film "Getting Rich with Ghosts 2: The Diamond War", the horror film "Ghost Bride", "The Bride Sale Contract", the family film "Bringing Mom Away", "Battery Breaker: Mother's Birthday", the action film "Death Battle in the Sky".
“Getting Rich with Ghosts 2”, officially premiered on the occasion of National Day, September 2, directed by Nhat Trung with the participation of familiar actors such as Tuan Tran, Hoai Linh, Diep Bao Ngoc, Vo Tan Phat. The film is in an entertaining style, combining humorous elements and light horror, revolving around the journey of five characters caught up in the “war” to bring the body of the star Anh Thu back to her homeland. The special point lies in the 9 billion VND diamond ring, the reward left by the ghost herself, making the story both dramatic and satirical. With a humorous but still everyday approach, the film is expected to “heat up” theaters during the holiday.
Previously, the film “Red Rain” by director Dang Thai Huyen was officially released in theaters and quickly became a phenomenon. Set in the 81 days and nights of fighting to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972, the work recreates the tragic history of the nation with an epic and humane perspective. The appearance of actors such as Hua Vi Van, Trong Hai, Nguyen Thanh Van… along with elaborate staging techniques helped the film receive great attention from the audience, especially in the context of the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. Currently, this project has surpassed the 135 billion VND mark after only a few days of release.
Other films such as “Ghost Bride”, “Fighting in the Sky”, “The Contract to Sell Brides”… were all produced by famous directors and crews. Therefore, many audiences expect that Vietnamese films in September will be exciting, many films can reach the hundred billion mark like “Red Rain” just did.
It can be said that “Red Rain” or other films such as “Getting Rich with Ghosts 2” and “The Contract to Sell Dau” represent different streams of Vietnamese cinema. This diversity helps audiences have more choices and at the same time shows the filmmakers’ efforts to balance art and commerce.
Positive forecast for a bumper movie season
Box office data shows that the popularity of “Red Rain” is very clear. After only three days of release (as of August 24), the film has reached the 100 billion VND mark in revenue - a record number for the war-historical genre, which is often considered difficult to reach the general public.
This achievement proves that Vietnamese audiences are increasingly ready to accept serious works, as long as the story is engaging enough and the storytelling is close. With this momentum, experts predict that "Red Rain" can completely reach the 200 billion VND mark after the National Day holiday, becoming the highest-grossing war-themed film ever.
Meanwhile, “Get Rich with Ghosts 2” will be the new “warhorse” of the holiday season. Although there are no official figures yet, the film is considered to have great potential thanks to its familiar entertainment formula: a blend of humor, spiritual elements and a cast that is popular with audiences of many generations. With a dense screening schedule at major theater chains such as CGV, Galaxy, Lotte Cinema, and good ticket prices, the film is expected to attract young audiences and families during the holiday.
The diversity of films on the occasion of National Day 2.9 is considered a big plus for the market. Instead of competing fiercely, they complement each other to attract many groups of audiences to the cinema. This is a positive signal for filmmakers to be more bold with projects that are both entertaining and rich in social values.
