New expectations from Dong Viet bridge

During the peak days of site clearance for the Dong Viet bridge project and the access road, Mr. Nguyen Van Sy's family in An Linh residential group, Tran Hung Dao ward ( Hai Phong ) voluntarily handed over more than 2,500 ^m2 of agricultural land. Not only Mr. Sy's family, but all three residential groups of An Linh, Vuon Dao, and Ben agreed and joined forces to speed up the progress.

Mr. Le Thanh Son, Secretary of the An Linh residential group Party cell, said: "In An Linh alone, there are more than 20 households willing to give up their land, contributing to the early completion of the project."

That consensus has become a solid foundation, so that after just over two years since the groundbreaking date (June 2022), the modern bridge across the Thuong River and the roads leading to both sides were completed, in time for the meaningful inauguration on the occasion of National Day, September 2 this year.

Dong Viet Bridge has a total length of over 811 m, the bridge surface is 23.5 m wide. This is a large-scale, modern bridge, with a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND. The two-way approach road is nearly 7 km long, designed according to the standards of a grade II plain road, with a 22 m wide roadbed, 21.5 m wide road surface, connecting directly to National Highway 37. This item has a total investment of nearly 470 billion VND, bringing the total value of the project to nearly 2,000 billion VND.

With the bridge and the road, the land that was once associated with fruit orchards and agricultural life now opens up a new direction for development.

The simultaneous inauguration of both the bridge and the approach road has created a complete traffic axis, opening up an important connection between Hai Phong City and Bac Ninh Province. This is not only a necessary addition to the regional traffic network, but also affirms the determination of all levels, sectors and localities in prioritizing strategic infrastructure investment to serve long-term development.

The leaders of Tran Hung Dao ward said that the completion of the bridge and approach road will not only facilitate travel but also pave the way for many passenger and freight routes to be formed. From there, the demand for shops, restaurants, and logistics services will develop, serving both the people, businesses, and especially tourists to the Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site. This is an opportunity for jobs, income, and life of local people to increasingly improve.

The completed bridge helps people travel conveniently, passenger cars and freight vehicles circulate easily, opening up new opportunities.

The new bridge will shorten the time for transporting goods, reduce logistics costs, and promote the development of industry, services, and trade. In particular, with its strategic location, Dong Viet Bridge will become a “bridge” between major industrial zones in Bac Ninh and the Hai Phong seaport system – the international trade gateway of the North.

Opens up many opportunities

Not only is it a key traffic project, Dong Viet Bridge also brings about clear changes in people's daily lives.

Mr. Nguyen Van Sy excitedly added that from now on, buses can run right in front of his house, and his son who is studying at university can easily catch a bus near his house, no longer having to go around in a long, arduous way like before. For thousands of households in the wards and communes around the area, traveling, trading goods, studying, medical treatment, etc. are all much more convenient.

That joy spreads in every smile and look of the people on both sides of the Thuong River. People clearly feel that the new bridge not only changes the appearance of the infrastructure, but also opens the door to economic, cultural and social development for their homeland.

From modern bridges, the wide connecting road is gradually taking shape, bringing a new look to the homeland.

As one of the 9 projects that Hai Phong city simultaneously held groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies on August 19, Dong Viet Bridge has an even more sacred meaning, as a gift to the country on Independence Day.

Today's bridge not only connects the two banks of the Thuong River, but also connects the trust, consensus and aspirations of the people of Hai Phong, Bac Ninh and the entire key economic region of the North.
