This is considered a golden opportunity to promote the country's socio -economic development.
According to Tuoi Tre , the Long Thanh airport construction site always has thousands of engineers, workers and many contractors working in many locations. Currently, many items have been completed such as the fence (1,810ha), the construction of airport terminal piles and the leveling, drainage system...
Project of the century
Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV, the investor) said that up to now, ACV has received the handover of 100% of the site area (1,810ha for construction of phase 1 project and 722ha of surplus land) and the site of two connecting routes to the airport, the 5,000ha airport fence...
Regarding the construction of essential works in the airport (component project 3), ACV said that despite facing many challenges such as weather and shortage of workers, the units still maintained the construction progress with hundreds of deployment teams, mobilizing nearly 13,000 experts, engineers, workers, laborers and nearly 3,000 construction equipment to speed up the progress.
"With the basic goal of completing the project by the end of 2025, putting it into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026 as required by the Prime Minister , ACV is organizing contractors to urgently construct the remaining packages such as runways, aircraft parking lots, fuel supply systems...", said an ACV representative.
According to experts, Long Thanh International Airport is a project of the century. The airport’s first phase of operation is a golden opportunity for socio-economic development for the entire southern region and the whole country when the airport connects to the highways.
Because when approving the planning of Dong Nai province, in addition to approving the planning for Dong Nai, waterways, seaports, and logistics centers, the Government also required the province to effectively exploit Long Thanh airport associated with the airport urban model.
At the same time, the Government also approved a plan to synchronously develop the existing regional traffic system such as: the North-South expressway in the East, Dau Giay - Lien Khuong expressway (Lam Dong), Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway (Dong Nai), Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4 of Ho Chi Minh City, National Highways 1, 20, 51, 20B, 51C, 56, 56B...
To ensure that the project can be exploited immediately after the successful connection and trial operation, ACV said it has proposed that the Prime Minister direct the remaining component project investors to provide specific implementation progress so that ACV can coordinate to develop an exploitation plan that meets the standards of a modern airport.

Ready for traffic routes connecting to the airport and Ho Chi Minh City
On the Dong Nai side, Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that the provincial planning has determined that the Long Thanh airport urban area will develop according to the airport urban model that has been applied very successfully in countries around the world, bringing many positive breakthroughs such as Dubai airport, Frankfurt airport (Germany) and Changi airport (Singapore).
Therefore, in addition to existing highways, Dong Nai is implementing many important traffic projects with the goal of using Long Thanh airport as the axis for development momentum.
Specifically, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project is being accelerated and is expected to be technically open to traffic through Dong Nai, connecting to Vung Tau by the end of 2025. In parallel, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 is also in the urgent construction phase to be completed by the end of 2025.
These are two strategic projects and play a crucial role in ensuring smooth traffic connection with Long Thanh airport. For that reason, Dong Nai has prioritized and urged, promoting progress to complete synchronously with the time the airport goes into operation, expected in 2026.
According to Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Dong Nai province is investing in upgrading provincial road 25B, the section from National Highway 51 to Nhon Trach connecting with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 and road 25C, the section from National Highway 51 to rural road 19. These two roads are expected to be completed by the end of 2025 along with the airport.
"These two routes will be important connections to help passengers and goods easily move between Long Thanh International Airport with Ho Chi Minh City and the southwestern provinces via the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway. Thereby, it will significantly contribute to reducing traffic pressure on the already overloaded Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway," Mr. Duc shared.
According to the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, the province is also preparing to build provincial road 769E, a new road connecting the airport to the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway. This road not only adds a new traffic direction in the North but also helps reduce traffic pressure and increase efficiency in the South when the airport comes into operation. The Dau Giay - Tan Phu Expressway and the Ring Road 4 project... are also currently being carried out by Dong Nai province in terms of compensation and site clearance to soon hand over to investors for project implementation.
Long Thanh airport project implementation period: 2020 - 2026. Basically completed in 2025 and put into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026. Phase 1, the airport has 2 runways, 1 passenger terminal and synchronous auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year and 1.2 million tons of cargo/year.
