Leaders of large corporations 'confide' when the Prime Minister meets with more than 250 businesses

More than 250 typical domestic and international enterprises attended the conference chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh with the theme "80 years of enterprises accompanying the country".

By 2045 there will be at least 3 million businesses

At the meeting on the afternoon of August 30, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam aims to have about 2 million enterprises by 2030, contributing 55-58% of GDP, creating jobs for 84-85% of the workforce; increasing labor productivity by 8.5-9.5%/year; by 2045, there will be at least 3 million enterprises, contributing over 60% of GDP, having international competitiveness, and participating deeply in the global value chain.

The Prime Minister asked the business community and entrepreneurs to join hands to promote the implementation of three strategic breakthroughs in the direction of "open institutions - smooth infrastructure - smart entrepreneurs", striving to continue writing the glorious history of 80 years of Vietnamese enterprises - all for the goal of building a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

For ministries, branches and localities, continue to resolutely reorganize the apparatus; operate well the 2-level local government model; quickly change the state from "centralized management - if you can't manage, ban" to the state of "proactively, actively creating and serving the people and businesses".

Mr. Le Manh Hung, Chairman of the Board of Members of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group ( Petrovietnam ), "confides" the development process of the group: from the great wish of President Ho Chi Minh about building the Vietnamese oil and gas industry in 1959, on November 27, 1961, the Oil and Gas Exploration Group was born. This is the predecessor of Petrovietnam.

After more than 50 years, Petrovietnam has become the largest enterprise in Vietnam, ranked 11th in Southeast Asia with total assets of over 1 million billion VND, equity of over 840 thousand billion VND. Accumulated revenue reached 599 billion USD, contributing to the budget about 142 billion USD, an average of over 165 thousand billion VND per year in the last 5 years.

Before 2000, the contribution rate used to account for about 30% of the state budget; now it remains at about 9%, equivalent to 80.3% of the total contribution of 18 state economic groups.

FDI expects Vietnam to become the economic locomotive of Southeast Asia

Recounting the story of the business's start-up in Da Nang since 2007, Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sun Group, said that from the first project at Ba Na Hills, with the motto of beautifying the lands, Sun Group has now been present in many regions with high-class projects, contributing to changing the appearance and raising the position of Vietnam on the international tourism map.

Along with tourism, Sun Group also accompanies the country, participating in many important infrastructure projects such as airports, ports, and highways, contributing to local socio-economic development and connecting tourist destinations.

"Resolution 68 has affirmed the core role of the private economy in building an independent, self-reliant and prosperous economy," Mr. Truong shared.

From the perspective of FDI enterprises, Mr. Bruno Jaspaert, General Director of DEEP C Industrial Park Complex, emphasized a Vietnamese proverb: "If you work hard, you will achieve success" - if you work hard, one day you will achieve success.

He said that Vietnam's goal of becoming an upper-middle-income country or achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 is a big challenge, but completely feasible if there is determination.

From the perspective of FDI enterprises, he questioned whether the era of prosperous development in Vietnam has truly begun, and affirmed his belief in the Government's leadership in making Vietnam an economic locomotive in Southeast Asia.

"For foreign investors like us, is the era of prosperity and growth taking place here? I cannot speak for all businesses and foreign investors in Vietnam, but I have complete confidence in the leadership of the Vietnamese Government to turn Vietnam into an economic locomotive in Southeast Asia," Mr. Bruno Jaspaert emphasized.
