On the evening of September 30, at Emart Phan Van Tri supermarket (HCMC), the number of customers coming to shop was quite crowded. At many times, the parking lot outside the supermarket had to open an additional "field" area for customers to park their vehicles.
In supermarkets, food stalls, processed food stalls, dining areas, and bread counters are always crowded, sometimes you even have to wait in line to buy...
In particular, on the evening of August 30, the checkout area was often congested. Many customers bought large carts of products, causing the checkout time to be long and customers had to wait in long lines.
Taking the whole family shopping and eating, Mrs. Tran Thi Tuoi (living in Binh Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City) happily said that because it often rains, the family is reluctant to go far, choosing to shop and eat near home.
"It's only the first day of the holiday so my family hasn't done much shopping yet, just basic meals. We plan to cook at home tomorrow for fun. This year, many products are discounted so it's easy to shop," Ms. Tuoi said excitedly.
Many units said that with discounts of up to 80%, purchasing power in the "City Sale" program increased faster when entering the September 2 holiday. In the photo: Customers shopping at Mega Mall Thao Dien - Photo: N.TRI
However, according to records on August 30, the amount of essential goods was always continuously replenished on the shelves by this unit, so it still ensured enough supply for customer demand. In particular, purchasing power was quite strong on products that were deeply discounted but goods were still abundant.
Meanwhile, at Co.opmart Chu Van An supermarket (HCMC) in the afternoon and evening of August 30, although the number of customers was not consistent, sometimes crowded, sometimes empty, but overall it was still busier than usual. Customers also concentrated more in the area selling essential foods and deeply discounted goods.
A representative of Co.opmart said that right from the beginning of the holiday, the company proactively increased the amount of goods on the shelves; many products such as vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, soft drinks, candy, etc. were discounted with abundant stock.
That same evening, the meat, fish, and vegetable display area of the Bach Hoa Xanh store in Binh Quoi area (HCMC) was not stocked much. However, the store staff said that due to the fresh products, the remaining stock at the end of the day was often limited and in reality, it still met the needs of customers.
"Purchasing power during the holidays has not increased much compared to normal, but the unit proactively imports packaged goods for storage in advance, or proactively works with the warehouse to "support" when needed, so wherever purchasing power is, there is enough goods to supply there."

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a Vincom representative said that with thousands of products being deeply discounted, on August 30, the number of customers coming to shop and have fun was higher than usual.
With many products being discounted up to 80% in the City Sale program, Mega Mall Thao Dien shopping center has attracted customers in the past few days and is expected to see a sharp increase in the number of customers during the holiday, especially those taking the metro that connects directly to this shopping destination.
Many supermarkets such as Lotte Mart, MM Mega Market, Bach Hoa Xanh... also said that purchasing power increased slightly on the first day, but the amount of goods on the shelves was adjusted to increase sharply compared to normal days.
"It is expected that purchasing power will increase more strongly tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Therefore, the group of products that are consumed strongly such as soft drinks, beer, vegetables and fruits of all kinds... will be increased in quantity on the shelves, and promotional prices will still be applied," informed a representative of MM Mega Market.
