Regular health check-ups: The 'key' to protecting workers

One of the meaningful and practical activities organized by trade unions at all levels and enterprises in Thai Nguyen province to attract a large number of workers and laborers to participate in this year's Workers' Month is free health check-ups. This not only protects the health of workers but also demonstrates the concern and responsibility of enterprises, the companionship of trade unions, contributing to building a humane and sustainable working environment.

Along with organizing free health check-ups, Thai Nguyen Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company also gave gifts to workers in difficult circumstances during Workers' Month.

One day at the end of May, more than 300 workers of Thai Nguyen Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company were present at Thai Nguyen City Medical Center for a free health check-up (a program organized by Thai Nguyen City Labor Federation in coordination with other units).

Here, workers receive general internal examinations, ear - nose - throat, eyes, blood tests, etc.; receive dedicated advice from doctors on lifestyle, nutrition, and treatment instructions if they have any illnesses.

Ms. Tran Thi Dau, a worker at the Company, shared: Our work is inherently special, often working outdoors regardless of the sun or rain. Previously, I paid little attention to health check-ups. But after participating in the periodic health check-up program organized by the Company, I discovered that I had fatty liver and promptly received treatment. Now, I feel more secure at work.

Ms. Dao Thi Hoang Loan, Deputy General Director of Thai Nguyen Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company, said: The Company's workforce undertakes many heavy jobs, with potential risks of occupational diseases, respiratory diseases, musculoskeletal diseases, joint diseases and other chronic diseases. Regular health check-ups help employees detect health problems early, thereby providing timely treatment measures, minimizing risks and treatment costs.

Not only workers of Thai Nguyen Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company but also thousands of workers at agencies, units and enterprises in the province have participated in the free health check-up and cancer screening program during this year's Workers' Month. The image of workers shyly and anxiously entering the clinic but leaving with a smile of peace of mind is a clear demonstration of the humane value of the program.

According to Mr. Pham Truong Nguyen, Chairman of the Thai Nguyen City Labor Federation, in recent times, the City Labor Union has actively coordinated with enterprises and medical facilities to organize periodic health check-ups for employees. We hope that through this activity, in addition to strictly implementing the provisions of the law, enterprises and employers will continue to pay attention to and coordinate with the trade union organization to actively care for the material and spiritual life as well as the health of union members and employees. At the same time, strengthen propaganda work, raise awareness of workers about health care, prevention of occupational diseases, ensuring safety and hygiene at work.

Health care is not a “gift” but a right of employees. Periodic health check-ups for workers are not only the social responsibility of enterprises but also a key factor to ensure sustainable development.

Close coordination between enterprises, trade unions and medical facilities will create a safe and healthy working environment, contributing to improving the quality of life for employees and production efficiency for enterprises.

In recent years, the Provincial Federation of Labor has directed trade unions at all levels to implement many programs of periodic health check-ups and occupational disease screening, with special attention to female workers and workers working in toxic and dangerous environments. At the same time, it has coordinated with medical facilities to organize consultations and instructions on disease prevention, raising awareness of health care for workers.

Health check-ups for workers are not only an obligation, but also an act of showing respect for employees, who directly contribute to creating value for the enterprise and society.

In Thai Nguyen, free health check-up programs during Workers’ Month have spread a profound humane message: workers’ health is a top priority. This is a practical step to help detect diseases early, raise awareness of prevention and build a safe and sustainable working environment, where workers are protected and accompanied for a long time.

From reality, it can be affirmed that the joint efforts of the Trade Union, Enterprises and the whole society in taking care of the health of workers will be the foundation for building a humane and progressive working environment, contributing to making Thai Nguyen a bright spot in social security work and developing high-quality human resources.
