At the ceremony, the delegations offered flowers and incense to commemorate the merits of their ancestors and pay tribute to the heroic soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the early years of Da Nang's resistance against French colonialism.
Nai Nam Communal House was built in the year of At Ty (1905) with the contributions of local people. Over more than a century with many changes, the communal house has been restored many times but still retains its characteristic architecture. The structure is built of bricks, tiles, and wood; the roof is covered with yin-yang tiles, facing the Southeast; the architecture is in the style of a three-room, two-wing house. Inside, many wooden structures are intricately carved with traditional themes such as carp transforming into a dragon, pine and deer, plum and bird, and patterns of plants, flowers and leaves, clearly showing the artistic imprint of the Nguyen Dynasty through the hands of Kim Bong craftsmen (Hoi An).
During the two resistance wars against France and the US, Nai Nam communal house was an important revolutionary base, where many historical events took place such as the party admission ceremony, the deployment of political and military forces to attack the inner city of Da Nang. Many local elites lived, fought and heroically sacrificed here.
In addition to its historical value, Nai Nam communal house is also a place closely associated with the religious and spiritual life of the community, with annual traditional festivals such as the 15th day of the 2nd lunar month and the New Year's Eve ceremony on the 30th of Tet. On January 4, 1999, the Ministry of Culture and Information ranked Nai Nam communal house as a National Historical and Cultural Relic, becoming one of the typical ancient communal houses remaining relatively intact in the inner city of Da Nang.
Nai Nam communal house festival in 2025 is an opportunity for people to express their gratitude to their ancestors, while contributing to preserving and spreading the unique cultural and historical values of Da Nang land.
