Pepper price today August 17, 2025 in the world
The global pepper market recorded mixed fluctuations, with some regions increasing prices while other markets remained stable or decreased slightly.
Indonesia:
Black pepper: According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), Indonesian black pepper prices decreased slightly by 0.33% (US$25/ton) to US$7,208/ton.
White pepper: Muntok white pepper price decreased by 33 USD/ton to 10,076 USD/ton.
Malaysia:
Black pepper: Malaysian ASTA black pepper price increased sharply by 1.62% (150 USD/ton), reaching 9,400 USD/ton.
White pepper: Similarly, Malaysian ASTA white pepper price increased by 1.6% (USD 200/ton), to USD 12,700/ton.
Brazil and Vietnam:
Brazil: ASTA 570 black pepper price remained stable at USD 5,850/ton, the lowest level in the market.
Vietnam: Vietnam's pepper export prices continue to be stable. Black pepper of 500 g/l and 550 g/l is priced at 6,240 - 6,370 USD/ton. Meanwhile, white pepper remains at 8,950 USD/ton, the lowest in the market.

Brazil's total pepper growing area is over 40,000 hectares, a slight increase compared to 2024. The estimated output in 2025 is 85,000 - 90,000 tons, a significant increase compared to 75,000 tons last year.
Brazil has two main harvests: a large crop from November to February (accounting for 70%) and a small crop from July to August (accounting for 30%). This helps ensure that pepper supplies from Brazil are always abundant all year round.
Despite increased production, the Brazilian pepper industry still faces several risks, including Fusarium and Buen diseases on the tree. Traditional processing methods can also affect product quality.
Pepper price today August 17, 2025 in the country
This morning, August 17, pepper prices in key production areas in Vietnam remained stable after a sharp increase, while coffee prices in Binh Phuoc decreased slightly, reaching 140,000 - 143,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong remained unchanged at 143,000 VND/kg after increasing yesterday. These are the two provinces with the highest purchasing prices in the country, along with Lam Dong.
Other localities such as Gia Lai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau (now merged into Ho Chi Minh City) remained unchanged, keeping the price at 140,000 VND/kg, and purchasing at the lowest price of 140,000 VND/kg.
In Binh Phuoc alone, the price decreased slightly by VND 1,000/kg to VND 140,000/kg.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), China is Vietnam’s third largest import market. Export volume to this market as of the end of July increased by 36.2% compared to the same period last year.
China is expected to continue to increase imports in the second half of the year, but it is unlikely to repeat the massive purchases seen in 2023. Part of the reason is price competition from Indonesia. This requires Vietnamese businesses to have flexible pricing strategies and delivery in line with fluctuating market demand.
The increase in production in Brazil, along with price competitiveness, could put pressure on world pepper prices, including those of Vietnam. However, as a leading supplier, Vietnam pepper can still maintain its value thanks to its reputation and quality.
To maintain their position in the market, Vietnamese businesses and farmers need to continue investing in quality, diversify export markets and closely monitor fluctuations from competitors such as Brazil and Indonesia.
