Facing an opponent with superior physique and strength, the Vietnamese women's team encountered many difficulties right from the first minutes. After only 7 minutes, goalkeeper Kim Thanh's net shook, starting from a cross from the left wing by McKenna, Aideen Hogan Keane jumped high to head the ball to open the score 1-0 for U23 Australia.

Immediately after that, the Vietnamese women's team was awarded a direct free kick more than 30m from the opponent's goal. Bich Thuy made a very good cross for Chuong Thi Kieu to head. Unfortunately, the ball went just wide of the goal.

In the 17th minute, McKenna fired a long-range shot from 25m away, sending the ball straight into Kim Thanh's net, raising the score to 2-0 for U23 Australia.

In the following minutes, the Vietnamese women's team tried to attack and created many opportunities, but Huynh Nhu and Bich Thuy were unable to capitalize on them. It was not until the 88th minute that the home team scored a goal to reduce the score to 1-2. That was Bich Thuy's brilliant moment, when she juggled the ball over the head of an Australian U23 defender and then fired a shot from a narrow angle to defeat goalkeeper Lincoln.

However, with little time left, the Vietnamese girls could not score more goals and had to accept a 1-2 defeat. With this result, the Vietnamese women's team will have to compete for third place with Thailand. Meanwhile, Australia will play Myanmar in the final match for the championship.
