This year's event made its mark by attracting 7,155 athletes competing in three distances, including more than 20 international athletes from eight countries including Finland, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, Kenya and Morocco.
This is not only a large-scale sports playground but also an opportunity to promote the image, culture and people of Vietnam to friends around the world. The tournament also contributes to honoring the natural beauty, introducing the tourism potential and unique cultural identity of the homeland in a new, modern but still traditional look.
The organizers have prepared an international standard route, beautiful scenery, ensuring safety, combined with many cultural, musical and culinary activities, turning the event into a big, emotional festival.
According to Mr. Do Duc Hoang, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television, the theme "Rhythm through time" carries the message of honoring the value of connection between the past - present - future, while affirming the spirit of perseverance and overcoming the limits of the runners.
The tournament also aims to spread the spirit of sports, build a healthy running community, and contribute to promoting local culture and tourism .
This year's tournament recorded nearly 3,000 athletes competing in the 21 km distance, more than 1,700 athletes in the 10 km distance and more than 2,400 athletes in the 6.8 km distance.
The winding route around Dai Lai Lake, interspersed with contemporary art architecture and lush green landscapes, promises to bring unique and inspiring experiences to participants. In addition to the races, the event also features a grand music stage, a beer festival at the finish line and a total prize value of up to 500 million VND.
At the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented 300 bicycles to Phu Tho province for poor students who have overcome difficulties, and honored outstanding athletes. The first prize in the 6.8 km event went to Nguyen Thi Tra Giang and Phung Huy Gioi; the 10 km event went to Lo Bao Tam and Bui Thu Ha; while in the 21 km event, two outstanding athletes, Glady Kiptoo (Kenya) and Pham Thi Hong Le, won the championship.
