According to The Jerusalem Post , Israel sent more than 100 aircraft to participate in the attack on Iran and the initial raid on radar systems in Syria was to blind the enemy's capabilities, before hitting Tehran and Karaj - two strategic locations in Iran.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the attack was strictly focused on military targets, avoiding nuclear and oil facilities to prevent a wider escalation of the conflict. The high alert level remained as Israel anticipated possible retaliation, not just from Iran.

This large-scale attack involved more than 100 aircraft, including F-35 "Adir" stealth fighters, after covering about 2,000 km.

According to multiple media outlets, the airstrikes focused on Tehran and Karaj, with the IDF claiming that they only targeted military sites.

The massive operation began with strikes on radars and air defense systems, paving the way for further strikes on military bases. A coordinated strike in Syria had previously neutralized similar threats, preventing Iran from getting an early indication of Israel’s plans.

Using heavy munitions, the long-range strike required significant refueling capabilities and put Israel's 669 Rescue Unit on high alert. The IDF is closely monitoring possible responses from Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi remained at the Kirya base in Tel Aviv. A senior Israeli official said the security cabinet approved the attack in a telephone meeting last night.

"The IDF is fully prepared for both offensive and defensive operations, closely monitoring Iran and its proxies. We urge continued vigilance and adherence to the instructions of the Home Front Command, with updates to be issued immediately on any changes," said IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari. He confirmed that there had been no changes to the Home Front Command's instructions.

The White House backed Israel's actions, saying that "Israel's precision strikes on Iranian military targets were consistent with its right to self-defense and in response to Iran's missile attack on October 1."

US officials said Israel had been informed of the timing of the strike, hours before it was launched. "President (Joe) Biden has been briefed on the Israeli attack on Iran and is monitoring developments closely," a senior US official said.
