According to MacRumors , Apple's policy states that a product is considered obsolete when seven years have passed since the device was last manufactured. The company released the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in September 2014, with the main advantages being larger screen sizes than their predecessors and support for Apple Pay.

Screen size upgrade helps iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sales grow strongly

The company officially discontinued the iPhone 6 Plus in September 2016, but the iPhone 6 remained on sale in some countries for several years. When iOS 13 was released in 2019, OS update support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus was completely discontinued.

Meanwhile, the fourth-generation iPad mini has also been added to Apple’s “vintage” list. This means that the product has been sold for more than five years since the device’s last manufacturing date. Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will continue to service products on the vintage list for another two years, depending on the availability of replacement parts.

The classic product list also includes the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus duo, which were launched in September 2017, but this only applies to the red variant. Other color variants have been on the shelves for longer and are not classified as classic.
