Mobilizing all medical resources to ensure safety for major national events

Ready for anything

To prepare for the great national event, the Ministry of Health has issued Plan No. 1105/KH-BYT covering all areas related to health, from ensuring food safety, epidemic prevention and control, possible situations, including issues related to disasters.

The Ministry of Health mobilized thousands of medical staff, participating in hundreds of medical teams on duty in all areas, from central areas to where the parades passed through. In addition, the Ministry of Health also deployed inspection teams on the environment, food safety, and epidemic prevention before the grand ceremony took place.

The Ministry of Health is working closely with relevant agencies, especially Hanoi, to monitor the number of people coming to the capital during the A80 event. In the central area, there will be more than 30,000 people attending Ba Dinh Square and millions of people are expected to be on the streets to welcome this important national event.

The Ministry of Health requires hospitals under the Ministry, as well as hospitals in Hanoi, to arrange medical teams to be on duty at the hospital 24/7, and to prepare adequate supplies of medicine, medical equipment, hospital beds and ambulances to receive, provide emergency aid and treat patients.

Therefore, medical forces are deployed evenly from the center of Ba Dinh to the wards and communes, where people from the localities stand to cheer on the parades and marches passing by. The Ministry of Health will arrange for mobile medical teams in medical tents along the routes to best ensure simple emergency care and primary health care for the people.

According to Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health), medical work for the A80 event was carefully prepared in all aspects. Accordingly, the Ministry of Health closely coordinated with the Hanoi People's Committee, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security and related units to develop detailed scenarios, deploy inspections and monitor environmental sanitation, water quality, and food safety at restaurants and hotels serving the event. Specialized inspection teams were also established to monitor disease prevention and control in the community before the event took place.

Maximize resource mobilization

Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Health, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung, said that the unit has mobilized maximum resources, synchronously deployed medical solutions, including emergency care, food safety control, disease prevention and response to unexpected situations. The capital's health sector has mobilized 346 medical staff, 37 ambulances, divided into 88 emergency teams, ready to participate in supporting health care for delegates and people.

The Department of Health also assigned the Hanoi Center for Disease Control to closely monitor infectious diseases in the community, especially high-risk groups such as dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, influenza and emerging diseases. At the same time, coordinate with local authorities to handle the environment, spray insecticides in event areas and crowded places, ensuring that no disease outbreaks occur during the event.

At the end-line hospitals, preparations are also being urgently implemented. Xanh Pon General Hospital has developed a plan to respond to situations such as trauma, fire, food poisoning, and medical disasters. Specialized teams such as ECMO, interventional cardiology, burn trauma, interventional gastrointestinal endoscopy, ENT, maxillofacial surgery, etc. have been assigned, ready to receive and treat patients promptly. During the preliminary review, final review, and the day of the official event, the hospital maintains 50% of its staff on duty 24/7.

Along with that, Hanoi Heart Hospital has also completed preparations. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Sinh Hien, Director of the Hospital, said that 4 emergency teams have been established, including doctors, nurses, medical equipment and necessary medicines. These emergency teams will coordinate with on-call points, ensuring that they are ready to provide medical support anytime, anywhere during the event.

Dr. Ha Anh Duc recommends that for the elderly, those with one or more underlying diseases should find suitable locations to watch the parade, march or stay home to listen to the radio, watch TV. People with chronic diseases must comply with treatment, if they are taking medication, they must ensure they take the full dose. If they are healthy enough to go out, everyone must try to drink enough water and must have equipment to protect them from the sun and rain.

When feeling signs of declining health, people need to seek support from authorities, try to proactively leave crowded places early and must proactively ensure health in all situations.
