Currently, the North Central region has more than 12,500 hectares of crops flooded ( Ha Tinh and Quang Tri). Localities are continuing to update.

According to the Department of Irrigation Construction and Management, the average capacity of reservoirs in the North Central region is 72 - 83% of the design capacity; specifically by province: Thanh Hoa 74%, Nghe An 80%, Ha Tinh 85%, Quang Tri 76%, Hue 83%. There are 1,034/2,323 reservoirs full of water (Thanh Hoa 158/610 reservoirs, Nghe An 580/1061 reservoirs, Ha Tinh 278/321 reservoirs, Quang Tri 30/275 reservoirs).

With reservoirs managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , Cua Dat reservoir had a water level of 828.38 million m3 at 5 p.m. on August 25, reaching 78% of the design capacity; total discharge flow of 1,235 m3/s; the reservoir has 621.62 million m3 left for flood storage.

Ngan Truoi Lake reached 31% of its design capacity; the lake still has 536.01 million m3 for flood storage. Ta Trach Lake reached 35% of its design capacity, with a total discharge of 198 m3/s; the lake still has 497.01 million m3 for flood storage.

The average capacity of lakes in the South Central and Central Highlands regions reaches 46 - 72% of the design capacity. Specifically by province: Da Nang 72%, Quang Ngai 59%, Gia Lai 57%, Dak Lak 57%, Khanh Hoa 46%, Lam Dong 57%.

The lakes are operating spillway: Phan Dung Lake (Lam Dong), Nuoc Trong Lake (Quang Ngai), Song Cai Lake (Khanh Hoa), Tra Tan Lake (Khanh Hoa), Ayun Ha Lake (Gia Lai), Dak Bla Lake (Quang Ngai).

The amount of water stored in irrigation reservoirs in the North averages about 66 - 95% of the design capacity; specifically by province: Dien Bien 70%, Son La 86%, Tuyen Quang 75%, Lao Cai 82%, Thai Nguyen 69%, Phu Tho 83%, Bac Ninh 70%, Ninh Binh 95%, Lang Son 66%, Cao Bang 70%, Quang Ninh 85%, Hanoi 75%.

The lakes are operating spillway: Khe Che Lake (Quang Ninh), Cam Son Lake (Bac Ninh), Khuon Than Lake (Bac Ninh), Yen Lap Lake (Phu Tho), Khe Che Lake (Quang Ninh).

The Department of Irrigation Construction and Management recommends that localities and units closely monitor weather developments, water levels and the current status of works, paying special attention to vulnerable reservoirs, reservoirs with gates, and densely populated downstream areas when it rains in the reservoir basin. For works under construction, there must be appropriate construction plans to ensure that no incidents occur, and absolutely do not implement items that do not meet the construction progress to overcome floods;

Units shall operate reservoirs in accordance with approved operating procedures; reservoirs shall have flood discharge gates, adjust reservoir water levels to ensure safety of the works and not discharge floods abnormally, causing unsafety to downstream areas; at the same time, reasonably store water in reservoirs with low storage capacity; strictly provide early warnings to downstream residents before reservoirs discharge floods and when there is a risk of an incident.

Units organize 24/7 duty during times of rain and floods; arrange permanent personnel at construction sites at risk of incidents, reservoirs full of water to promptly handle unusual situations according to the "four on-site" motto when there is a risk of construction incidents.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from August 25 to 27, 2025, the Northern Midlands and Delta, Son La, Lao Cai will have rain from 100 - 200mm, locally over 300mm; North Central region: From Thanh Hoa to Northern Quang Tri will have heavy to very heavy rain with total rainfall from 200 - 350mm, locally over 600mm; South Central and Central Highlands regions will have rain from 30 - 100mm, locally over 200mm.
