Honda Vietnam launches recall campaign to update ECU software on Rebel 1100 2021/2022 products

Hanoi, July 7, 2025, Honda Vietnam Company (HVN) announced the start of a recall campaign for the Rebel 1100 model ("Product"), imported directly from Japan and officially distributed through the Honda DreamWing Large-Displacement Vehicle Store, to update the ECU software, to ensure optimal product quality.

Details of the recalled products are as follows:

Cause and phenomenon: The ECU software (Engine Control Unit) does not operate optimally when the vehicle is moving downhill at about 40km/h and the throttle is completely closed. When the throttle is increased again, there is a possibility of an error in the fuel injection control setting, affecting operation and possibly causing the engine to stop working in the above conditions. When the ignition is turned off and turned back on, the vehicle operates normally again. Up to now, there have been no recorded cases affecting the operation or safety of the vehicle.

Remedy: From July 7, 2025, through the Customer Care department, HVN will invite Customers who have purchased recalled products to Honda DreamWing Large-Displacement Motorcycle Shops and authorized Large-Displacement Motorcycle repair shops via phone and/or email or other forms of contact to have the software checked and updated.

Repair time: Total estimated time average 24 minutes/1 vehicle.

Cost: All affected vehicles will be inspected and have their software updated free of charge by HVN.
