This is the story of the island that hides gold in Canada. That is Oak Island, located off the southern coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. According to oral stories, hundreds of years ago, pirates hid treasure up to 900kg of gold on Oak Island.

In 1795, a young man named Daniel McGinnis accidentally discovered some unusual things while visiting Oak Island. McGinnis saw countless scars on the old oak tree. The ground around it was also sunken as if it had been recently dug up. McGinnis believed that pirates had buried their loot here.

The next day, the young man and his two friends returned to the island. After digging for a while, they found a lot of clay, rocks, and logs underneath. Since they had only rudimentary tools, they had to return home empty-handed.

Nine years later, McGinnis and his friends returned to the island in hopes of finding the treasure. This time, they found a stone engraved with many strange codes. They could not decipher it, so they continued digging deeper into the oak tree. However, all they found was a pit filled with water. In the end, they had to leave with the stone engraved with the code. Later, the stone was used as a brick in the fireplace.

It was not until 1865 that linguistics professor James Liechti announced that he had deciphered the code on the mysterious stone. According to Liechti, the stone read: "12m, death 7,900kg of gold". From this information, people spread the word that the treasure would only appear when 7 people died at the same time. However, hundreds of people rushed into the battle for the treasure on Oak Island.

For more than 200 years, they plowed all over the island and stopped the flow of water to search. All they found were pottery, coins and a few objects, not gold.

To this day, many people have died for the treasure, so some people wonder if the treasure is protected by a curse. They died one after another because of boiler explosions, hydrogen sulfide poisoning…

However, the fear of the curse has not stopped treasure hunters from flocking to Oak Island in search of a chance to change their lives over the years. Despite many years, the 900 kg treasure on Oak Island remains an unsolved mystery.
