
On the morning of August 16, Nhan Dan Newspaper coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to organize the launching ceremony of the national walking program "Moving Forward with Vietnam" at the central bridge point of Hoan Kiem Lake (Hanoi) with the participation of people and armed forces in 34 provinces and cities and 3,121 out of 3,321 communes, wards and administrative zones nationwide.
This is an activity held to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the People's Public Security Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025).

At the launching ceremony, hundreds of thousands of participants nationwide wore red flags with yellow stars, headed to the historic Ba Dinh Square to watch the national flag raising ceremony, sang the national anthem and walked through the localities.
The event not only demonstrates patriotism and solidarity but also affirms the role of the People's Public Security force in linking the work of ensuring security and order with sustainable social development, building a movement of the entire people to protect national security.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, journalist Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and co-head of the program's Steering Committee, shared: "With the mission of the country's leading press agency, Nhan Dan Newspaper has coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to organize the program "Forwarding with Vietnam", spreading the spirit of solidarity, arousing national pride and contributing to social, environmental and health goals".
According to journalist Le Quoc Minh, this is not only a sporting event but also a journey of millions of hearts beating in unison - a place where all generations and all classes of people from urban to rural, mountainous, remote and isolated areas converge for a united, strong Vietnam, ready to step into a new era - an era of national aspirations, for a powerful future.
“With just a red shirt with a yellow star and a heart towards the country, let’s move forward with Vietnam. Every step you take today is a step forward to make Vietnam’s future greener and more livable,” emphasized journalist Le Quoc Minh.

At the launching ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Co-Head of the Program Steering Committee affirmed: “The People's Public Security Force has pioneered in organizing, mobilizing and participating in the program, with the participation of thousands of officers and soldiers from commune to provincial levels. This is not only a physical activity but also a campaign to propagate the law, prevent crime, strengthen the people's security posture, contributing to building the image of a healthy, safe and responsible Vietnam in the eyes of international friends".
“The event “Moving Forward with Vietnam” is a practical start in the journey to promote the construction of a healthy living environment, improve physical and mental health, build a disciplined society, respect the law, security, safety, and build a strong movement for the entire people to protect national security; symbolizing the strength of national solidarity, the close relationship between the People's Public Security and the people,” Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To emphasized.

“Moving Forward with Vietnam” is an unprecedented community event of profound political and social significance, taking place in the context of the country entering a new stage of development along with the rearrangement of administrative units.
With the message “1 billion steps into the new era”, the program is not only a sports activity responding to the campaign “All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho” and the movement “Healthy to build and protect the Fatherland”, but also a journey connecting millions of hearts, converging all generations and classes of people from urban to rural, mountainous, remote and isolated areas, together towards the goal of building a united, strong and sustainable Vietnam.
From July 25 to August 16, 2025, people across the country actively participated in registering online through the official portal cungvietnamtienbuoc.nhandan.vn to contribute to the journey of "1 billion steps". Each step recorded through the program's digital platform is a "green step", contributing to reducing carbon emissions, raising awareness of environmental protection and moving towards the country's Net Zero goal.
