Attending the event were Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, President of the Institute of Cultural Economics ; Dr. Hoang Hiep, Director of the Institute for Green Growth Research, Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, members participating in the project development; leaders of the City and departments, agencies; leaders of the Party Committee and authorities of Vinh Quang and Hung Dao communes and a number of tourism and travel agencies.
The assessment of the current status and potential for rural tourism development in Vinh Quang and Hung Dao communes by the Green Growth Research Institute, Vietnam Academy of Agriculture is based on the following criteria: Resources and conditions for tourism development including access to support, tourism resource planning and readiness to participate in the pilot model of local tourism development; current status and willingness of farming households to participate and conditions for participation in tourism development; capacity and expectations of young workers participating in tourism; difficulties and challenges in tourism development; technical infrastructure and capacity to serve tourists; potential of young workers and the role of the community in tourism development; priority orientation for rural tourism development...
Through survey and evaluation, the strengths in implementing rural tourism development in Vinh Quang and Hung Dao communes were identified, including: Both localities have favorable locations, close to the city center; diverse natural landscapes, rich in potential (Khuoi Khoan lake, Bang river, rice fields, Ky Sam mountain); Outstanding cultural and historical heritages such as Ky Sam temple, Dong Lan pagoda, Quan Trieu temple, Vien Minh pagoda... Especially, the community is ready and actively participating in the development of experiential tourism, ecological and cultural tourism, which is increasing. However, there are still limitations and challenges such as: incomplete tourism infrastructure, lack of supporting services; lack of initial investment capital and professional skills in community tourism; failure to build unique tourism products and effective links between domestic and foreign tourist destinations...
At the conference, there were 10 opinions exchanged and discussed related to the content of the project: It is necessary to clarify the picture of rural tourism in the tourism map of the City and the province; the issue of exploiting potential, implementation roadmap, communication and promotion to raise awareness; the assessment of the current situation, potential, human resources, finance, infrastructure, geographical location, climate and soil, socio-economics, customs, practices, fairs... need to be shown more clearly in the project; determining the types of cultural and historical tourism, rural tourism, agriculture, experience, community tourism; focusing on exploiting unique advantages; combining the use of resources from national target programs to exploit existing internal resources to promote development; methods of communication, promotion, promotion, and building tourism products...
The City People's Committee leaders requested the Project Management Board to fully absorb the opinions of scientists, specialized departments, and commune Party committees and authorities to supplement and adjust it to be closer to reality and highly feasible.
