On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day, scholar Uch Leang - Acting Director of the Department of Asian-African and Middle Eastern Studies, Institute of International Relations, Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC), President of the Cambodian Alumni Association in Vietnam (CAVA) - wrote an article in Khmer Times praising Vietnam's achievements.

In the article, he emphasized that the victory of the August Revolution in 1945 was a turning point that opened the era of national independence associated with socialism, and at the same time inspired the liberation movement in Cambodia, Laos and many other countries. From being dependent, the Vietnamese people became the masters of their own destiny.

According to researchers from RAC, since the victory of the August Revolution, Vietnam has become a spiritual support for oppressed and exploited peoples and peace- loving peoples, as well as being considered an ideal model in the struggle for national liberation.

The victory of the August Revolution in 1945 was not simply a victory of a nation against colonial empire, this victory also opened a new era for the diplomacy of a sovereign nation.

In the current context of globalization and integration, the spirit of the August Revolution of 1945 still retains its value and needs to continue to be promoted. The lessons learned from the August Revolution remain the foundation for Vietnam to realize its aspiration for deeper international integration.

Scholar Uch Leang assessed that after nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi process, Vietnam has created new strengths from the great national unity, accumulated experience, the unity of "Party's will, people's heart," the strength of the armed forces, the determination to liberate productive forces, promote all potentials and strengths, especially human resources and modern scientific and technological achievements, to innovate, digitally transform, and develop the country with the goal of becoming a developed country by 2045...

Cambodian scholars highly appreciate administrative reforms, the two-tier local government model and the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Regarding bilateral relations, Mr. Uch Leang affirmed that Vietnam and Cambodia are not only neighbors but also close brothers of all time, in both war and peacetime.

The two nations have fought together for independence and peace, and continue to accompany each other in development. Vietnam once helped Cambodia escape the Khmer Rouge regime, opening an era of independence and freedom.

Today, the two countries maintain friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation for peace, stability and development.

The author expressed his belief: “Proud of Vietnam's position in the international arena, the two countries will continue to deepen relations in all fields, bringing practical benefits to the people and actively contributing to peace and cooperation in the region and the world”./.
