As a follow-up film to “The Jade Ring” in THVL’s Vietnamese prime time slot, “The Wind Against the Current” brings to the audience a story of the times with the battle between the police force and criminal gangs; between love, family and justice in the face of cruel turns of fate.
They cannot choose the circumstances in which they are raised, but they can decide the path they must take, because going against the wind does not necessarily mean losing one's way!
Hai Dang (Le Minh Thanh): Living in the darkness but still keeping the torch of justice
|
Hai Dang - whose childhood name was Ti - was born into a poor family but was always happy in the loving arms of his parents. The boy dreamed of becoming a police officer, chasing criminals. But then, a series of events happened, making Ti an orphan. Fate pushed Ti to become the adopted son of the boss Soc Ba Lanh - a criminal related to the death of Ti and Teo's parents. Although raised by his adoptive father's illegal money, Hai Dang always kept the flame of justice, and tried to help his loved ones escape the mud. However, despite steadfastly going against the wind, Hai Dang still had to embrace a heart full of wounds from the cuts of past hatred and the uncompromising confrontation from his younger brother in the name of justice - Teo (Quoc Huy)...
Le Minh Thanh - an actor of the 9x generation. Passionate about acting but because he submitted his application late, he had to study tourism . However, despite struggling with various jobs such as parking attendant, waiter, marketing... he still did not give up his dream of becoming an actor and participated in extra roles whenever he had the chance. Having lived a difficult life before pursuing art, Le Minh Thanh is currently managing a travel company with his younger brother.
Le Minh Thanh is a familiar face to THVL audiences through the films: Roses for the Morning, Perfect Plan, etc. With his diverse transformation ability, he always completes well the roles assigned by the director. In the film "Gio Nguoc Chieu", he has many scenes of conflict and suffering in love with Bao Chau (Hong Loan). Because of the circumstances and the tragic love of the characters, along with the passionate acting of his co-star, Le Minh Thanh also had to admit that he was very emotional every time he saw Hong Loan shed tears. And, thanks to this, he brought many emotions to the character Hai Dang.
Chi Thien - Teo (Quoc Huy): Wearing the cloak of justice but filled with hatred
|
As a younger brother from the same hometown as Ti, Teo was loved by "brother Ti" since childhood. When both families encountered problems, Ti and Teo suddenly became two lost young birds, trying to rely on each other. Although Ti always tried to protect "little brother Teo", the two little hands still lost each other. Teo was lucky to be raised by Nhan - a police officer who once hunted down the boss Soc Ba Lanh. Therefore, the reunion after many years of separation pushed the cousins into confrontation on two fronts. "Brother Ti's" complicated family background, along with past hatred and jealousy in his unrequited love for Bao Chau - Mr. Nhan's daughter - made Chi Thien increasingly lost his way and betrayed his once close brother...
The war is getting more and more tense when the boundary between black and white is sometimes no longer clear because those who carry the name of justice gradually fall into darkness, while those in the dark yearn to rise above the mud...
