Hanoi sets up interdisciplinary working group to inspect counterfeit and smuggled goods

The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued an official dispatch requesting the establishment of interdisciplinary working groups to inspect the situation of smuggling, counterfeiting and imitation goods.

According to the assessment of the Hanoi People's Committee, the functional forces of the City's Steering Committee 389 have achieved many results in the peak period of fighting against smuggling and trade fraud, especially promptly handling many cases of production and trading of fake milk, medicine, food, and functional foods; trading in goods with signs of counterfeiting famous brands...

Many serious violations were discovered and handled, creating social effects and being recognized and highly appreciated by public opinion.

The Hanoi City Market Management Department inspected a batch of perfume with signs of counterfeit labels at a business establishment on Hang Giay Street (Hoan Kiem District).

However, smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement continue to be complicated. Some recent incidents reported by the press show that the subjects are more sophisticated in dispersing and concealing counterfeit and smuggled goods.

To end the above situation, the City People's Committee directed the Department of Industry and Trade (Standing Agency of the City's Steering Committee 389) to preside over and coordinate with relevant units and People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to continue to strictly implement the directions of the central government and the city.

Establish an interdisciplinary working group to inspect and review the situation of smuggling, production and trading of counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods in the city; focus on areas, fields and goods with high risk of violations, especially goods that directly affect people's health such as food, medicine, functional food and cosmetics.

Based on the results of the inspection, synthesis, assessment of the situation, clarification of causes and responsibilities; advise the City People's Committee on specific, timely and feasible solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of prevention and combat of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, fake goods and poor quality goods.

The City People's Committee assigned departments, branches, sectors and People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities, based on their assigned functions and tasks, to proactively coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade to strengthen propaganda and dissemination of laws; mobilize people and businesses not to participate in or assist in violations of the law.
